I have posted earlier concerning the Gaards. But this is a different family. I cannot find through the parish records information on the Knute Rasmusson Gaard (b. 1811 -1894?) and Gunvor Tollaksdatter's (1819-1900) children. Their 2nd son was my g-grandfather (Tollak). I am interested in the oldest son, Ole, born May 27, 1839. Did he remain in Norway and if so, when did he die and did he marry? Also they had a son Reinert born in 1851. Did he die shortly after birth as they had another son born in 1852 (Don't know his birth date) that was named Reinert. They had a daughter Ingeborg Kristine who was born around 1843. Did she remain in Norway and did she marry? This family lived on Gaard, Talgje, Finnoy, Rogaland, Norway. Any info would be so appreciated! Thank you!

Have you consulted the published bygdebok about that farm area? "Finnøy Gard og ætt : III Fogn,Talgje og Fisterøyane" by Halvard Bjørkvik; Hans Eyvind Næss.

When I was interested in the earlier history of a family living there I used that book series when I was visiting at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. The books were published in the 1990s and they were quite beautiful. I would love to own that entire series some day...

Since I can't afford them right now - I would order them through InterLibrary Loan program of my local public library if need arises for me again. You should consider that option.

Probably the family in the 1875 Census. Seems to have included Ole wife, two children and parents Knud and Gunvor on Gaard

Carol -- Where did you find information that there was a second son named Reinert born in 1852? There is no such birth in the Finnøy church records available online.

The 1875 census for Finnøy is available online and you can find the daughter Ingeborg in that enumeration with a husband and children in the household.

For more detail you of course would have to consult the church records.

Concerning Reinert......On Ancestry.com there is a tree of Knut Rasmusson that shows a son Reinert born April 30, 1851 on Gard, Talgje, Finnoy, Rogaland, Norway. It shows the 2nd Reinert born "about November", 1852. Reading that I would presume that the first Reinert had died early in life. I appreciate the info on Ole. I assume that he remained on Gard. Is there any further infomation on Ingeborg Kristine, born about 1843 and died in 1927? Did she remain on Talgje? Thanking all for their help.

I apologize that I missed the posting about Ingeborg Kristine. Thank you for that posting. Again I assume that her family remained in Norway.

On Ancestry I've seen family trees every week that are horribly wrong. Some even have parents born AFTER the children listed and worse.

You really need to consult the best sources available - the church records, the bygdeboks, etc. Have you learned to do any of that yourself??

Baptism record for Reinert April 30, 1851, See number 22

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/kb20051208020280

Son Knud was born March 8, 1854, See number 8

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/kb20051208020294

I did not find any children born between Reinert and Knud for the parents Knud and Gunvor. Nor did I find any death record for Reinert Knudsen in the records for 1851 1852 or 1853.
