There are two different family trees on Geni.com for this family. The one managed by Bjørn P Brox has the son Rasmus Rasmusson born 1739 and married to Marta Knutsdatter Ytre Ladstein. The other Geni.com tree managed by Tørres Sande has the son born in 1748 and married to Ingeborg Knutsdatter Ladstein. The Tørres Sande seems to use a Bygdebok as a source. Ladstein i Finnøyg og æ bok 1 side 186 b.5.4. In order to sort this out and find out why the differences in the trees you will need to go to the Bygdebok or to the original sources on Digitalarkivet. The two are shown in the post from Einar on page 2.

Here is the Bjørn P. Brox Geni.com tree.

https://www.geni.com/people/Rasmus-Indre-Ladstein/6000000005049030292?through=6000000005049030302

Here is the Tørres Sandvin Gni.com tree.

https://www.geni.com/people/Rasmus-Ladstein/6000000005609278496?through=6000000005609278514

This is likely the Bygdebok that Tørres Sande references in the Geni.com tree. It is available at the University of North Dakota library. You can contact them and ask them to scan the page and mail it to you.

Bjørkvik, H. Finnøy: gard og ætt, v. 1 1993 DL576.F52 B58 Farms Southern part of Finnøy

Found here

http://library.und.edu/special-collections/bygdebok/place/78

You might also try and contact the two mangers through the Geni.com e-mail system and ask them to comment on the discrepancies. Click on the "Contact Profile Manger" box

Also go back and look carefully at the data that Einar has provided you from the original records from Digitalarkivet, I think the truth has to be found there.

In spite of the use of a source by Tørres Sande the data in the Bjørn P. Brox tree more closely matches the original data provided by Einar on page 2.

I think the answer is clearly that there were two Rasmus Rasmussens. Here is the Rasmus Rasmussen who married Ingaborg Knudsdatter and had the child named Anna in the 1801 Census living in Håland. Thus it is likely that the Rasmus Rasmussen that you are interested in is found in the Bjørn P. Borx tree on Geni.com.

http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01058355000872

This was already shown by Einar on page 2. Here is his post.

quote:
The bygdebok for Ladstein says his wife Kirsti Ivarsdatter was 55 years old in 1758 (b. approx 1703) and died 1768 nearly 63 years old.
(Kirsti had earlier been married to Ivar Nilsen, Garå.) They had the following children:
Rasmus b. 1739, conf. 1756, married 1761 to Martha Knudsdatter,
Siri b. 1742
Lars b. 1744
Rasmus b. 1748, conf. 1766, married 1771 to Ingeborg Knudsdatter.

So both of the two Geni.com profiles are correct. The Bjørn P. Borx tree covers the first Rasmus Rasmussen born in 1739 and the Tørres Sande tree covers the second Rasmus Rasmussen born in 1748.

It seems odd that information first provided to CDAHL over 10 years ago might need to be repeated.

Using unsourced unverified family trees created by others can lead to unending confusion.

I get it (I think!)! Apparently Rasmus Rasmusson and Kirsti Ivarsdotter named the oldest and the youngest of their sons Rasmus! I know this happened but it sure makes for confusion for people like me. Thank you all for helping me get this family in perspective! I do plan to contact the "Profile Managers" of the 2 families.
Einar - I missed your listing of 2 Rasmus's. I apologize to you. Thank you!
