Hi

I found the baptizm of Emil in Vang (Hamar) 1897:

Ragna Tolline baptized 1899 in Vestre Bærum; bottom:

Harriet Karoline in 1901 in Vestre Bærum:

Alexander in 1903 in Vestre Bærum

The family lived at Bærum Verk in 1899 and 1901, but I'm not able to find them in the 1900 census.
More than 3.000 persons are missing in Vestre Bærum in the 1900 census: http://arkivverket.no/eng/content/view/full/13924

Although no mention is made of Matia marrying a Carl Arenson in her obituary, there is this published in Rockford Republic, Thursday 11 Nov 1915, pg 2:

"Miss Matea Hansen, 43 and Carl Arenson, 31 of this city were granted a marriage license at Freeport today."

Marital status -wise and age-wise this appears to not be Mathea Hansen (born 1863) and if Carl Hansen is still alive and Mathea is still married to him, she would not be a Miss. And in 1917 all of her children are listed in the Swen Johnson suit as well as herself as Matea Arenson.

There are a couple of Carl Arenson / Carl Aronson / Charles Aronson in Rockford region.

Hi JK - I have to ask where you are finding all this information!! I use FamilySearch and ancestry.com, but I have never seen evidence of the obits and newspaper articles you are coming up with! Can you share with me your source(s) for future searches? Thank you again - this is a mountain of information to go through and I am very grateful for your very generous help with this!

Nancy :)

It's from Genealogybank.com. It's a subscription newspaper site and I think you can get a short trial for a small relatively amount of money. It has about 24 titles from Rockford, Illinois, so might be worthwhile for you.
