I submitted this request a year or so ago...no luck so will try again. I am puzzled by a 21-year gap in Norway records of my grandmother. She was born 12 Dec 1871 on her maternal grandparents' farm at Sondre Aase, Hordaland. Grew up on her parents' farm at Myksvoll (also spelled Moksvold), Lindaas parish, Hordaland. Confirmed 3 Oct 1886 at the Lygre church, near Myksvoll.
The next record I find for her is dated 2 Sep 1907 in the Lygre parish register, mentioning her intended emigration. Later that month she married my grandfather Hans O. Fosse in the Neukirken, Bergen, and they emigrated to Washington state, USA.
I do not find her in the 1891 nor 1900 censuses...nor any other record. She was just a farm girl...odd that she would disappear. Any help appreciated.

Here is a long shot of a woman living in Bergen in 1900. Birth city is listed as Isdalstøen which is a village in Lindås, Hordaland. Following up with the lady Jackie found in 1875 it is likely that this is not the correct person. Wrong parents.

This is likely her parents and some of the family in 1900.

On the transcription of her marriage her name is rendered as Andrea. So here is a possible in 1891 census Andrea Jansen:

This candidate in the 1875 census:

Her birth baptism #31 2 Jan 1872:
SAB, Hamre Sokneprestembete, H/Hab: Klokkerbok nr. B 2, 1863-1880, s. 87-88

Her marriage:

So there were two Andrina Jo*datter born in Hamre in1871-1872. Are you certain that the correct Andrina was identified as your ancestor?

The Digitalarkivet website states that the searchable database for the 1891 Norwegian census is incomplete. They do state that the scanned originals can be read through page by page.

Her husband Hans Olaisen Fosse travelled to America three times. The first two on his own and the second with Andrine as his wife.

Hans Fosse to New York in 1893 destination Wisconsin.

Hans O Fosse to Quebec in 1898 destination Seattle

and in 1907 to Quebec with Andrea destination Vancouver.

I refer to the message from JK Marler of 10/09/16 @ 01:46. I think this person in Bergen in the 1891 census is a real possibility. Most of Andrine Johnsdatter's 4 sisters moved from the Moxvold farm into Bergen to work at various menial jobs, so it stands to reason she would do the same.
She was the eldest in her family but the farm went to her only brother.

Well if it is her, she has changed residences by 1900. Here is the Bjørnsen family at the same address in 1900.

Hopkins noted, after my post, a caveat about the 1891 census, not every person in the census has been placed into the indexing side. All the originals have been scanned and are mounted as a browseable base but not all are searchable with the engine. Andrea Jansen, therefore, even though you know how many Andrea and Andrine were born in that parish during 1869-1871 (I counted 3), might be an outlier. So be wary.
