Oddly enough the only Ole Wollum I have found in Eau Claire, WI does not fit the Family Tree, Ole. Different birth years.

But there is this Ole Wollum in Dunn County which is next to Eau Claire. The birth year seems to fit.

Maybe its a written fault. In this worksheet dokument he has wrote the age of 47years,that doesnt macth with 1956 when the dokument was signed by him. If he was 47 in 1956 he had to be born 1909,that is the same time he escape from Norway. Maybe the signature is fault, should been 1946 instead of 1956??

The document should be 1936. It's a little hard to comment when we can't see it....

I looked at the original document that you are speaking about. All of the document except the date and signature is typed. The document does seem to be of your relative Nels Evenson. The only explanation I would have is that it is as you said a mistake in the date of the document and that the year is wrong. The Niels Evenson of Eau Claire Wisconsin clearly died in 1953 and could not have been alive in 1956.

Taking a closer look at the document after reading Jane's new post which came in as I was researching the document. I think the date could very well be 1936. The 3 is written so that it could easily be read as a 5. Which is what both I and Andreas did initially.

And as did the Ancestry transcriber. Here is the transcribed document from Ancestry.

Nels Evenson
in the U.S., Chicago and North Western Railroad Employment Records, 1935-1970

Gender: Male
Race: White
Birth Date: 22 Nov 1889
Birth Place: Soknedalen, Norway
Father: Even Vollum
Mother: Kari Anshus
Record Date: 30 Dec 1956
Record Place: Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Occupation: Bridge & Building Carpenter

Glad it worked out about the document! . :-)

After Nels's death a notice was placed in Eau Claire newspaper, in December, advertising that his estate was in probate, and named Jennie (seemingly as executor). Earlier, in October, Nels's obituary named step-son Woodrow L. Gilbert. So that is another family line that could be followed, in seeking contact.

Find-a-Grave memorial Jennie T Evenson 1893-1970. In the same cemetery is Arthur G Gilbert 1887-1969. His obit says he is survived by the same daughter and son named in Nels's obit as step -children.

Here is an obit for the son's son. Not a direct descendant but possibly, the family might have photos and stories, etc. link
