Soory all it was late when I posted the last update to my search through the ELCA book on Ancestry.com and I left the no off the last sentence. No I did not find any trace of Arentine Olufine Hansdatter I have corrected the last sentence. |

Here is the arrival of Helga Alstad into America. Ah yes thanks to Jackie I realized this is a two page record. On the second page it states that she is going to Colfax, the fare is paid for by her Uncle and she is going to her Uncle Hans Rakstad Colfax Wisconsin. Looks like Rakstad but I do find a Hans Alstad in Wisconsin in the 1910 Census in Dunn County where Colfax is located.
Helga Alstad in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 Name: Helga Alstad Arrival Date: 7 Aug 1915 Birth Date: abt 1895 Birth Location: Nrw Birth Location Other: värtó Age: 20 Gender: Female Ethnicity/ Nationality: Scandinavian Port of Departure: Bergen Port of Arrival: New York, New York Ship Name: Kristianiafjord |

Well shoot, about no Arntine.
A biography of Henry Olsen here (wife Emelie Marie Harriette Blomqvist): link
Here the immigration on the Norge is mentioned. There is no surviving passenger list for that trip.
According to this biography, Henry and Emelie joined the Second Norwegian Methodist Church in 1872 (also called Maple Avenue Methodist).
This era saw a lot of religious quarrels among Scandinavian immigrants.
I wondered how Arntine could be known to have died if she had moved away. She could have moved to another neighborhood and different Lutheran church but still in Chicago. But another reason she could have died in Chicago but no death record at Vor Frelsers - if she changed denominational affiliation.
A stretch... |

Another reason for not finding Arntine in the records for Vor Frelser's Menighed Chicago is that although I found Begraved records for 1861 through 1867 and for 1876 to 1911, I could not find any records for engraved for the years 1868 to 1876. She could have died during those years.
The Cook County, Illinois, Deaths Index, 1878-1922 from Ancestry.com does not cover those years either so no help there.
There is this index compiled from newspaper records and Cook County death records.
Cook County, Illinois, Marriage and Death Indexes, 1833-1889
But no years just a list of names and reference to where the name is stored. Looking at the list for Hanson or Hansen nothing jumps out. However if she changed her first name to Anne or something she would be unfindable in this data base. |

Good point about years 1868-1871. Yes, maybe she died in that period.
Here is a list of Norwegian women in Chicago age 34 in 1880. I also looked at age 33. link
Another idea is that maybe Arntine traveled to a man she intends to marry. He went ahead of her to Chicago, to find a job and a place to live. In that case the men who left her parish some months before her might be found in Chicago. Unfortunately that hypothesis is awfully cumbersome to investigate. |

Actually going back and looking at the data the dates for not being able to find any begraved records in the Chicago data is from 1868 to 1876. |

There is a single page, page 281 that lists 1872 burials in the Archives version. Copy is very faint. So actually what is missing is 1873, 1874, 1875. |
