Trunks and travel boxes were normaly identified with initials.
Example: My GG-mother was Rakel Thaletta Pedersdatter Havn, on her traveling box is written R T P H.
It is difficult to understand what is written on the trunk you have. You say it starts with N, but if it belonged to an Anne it shouls have started with A (A and N can be misread). The other letters is said to be Ovok - could it be O V O K?
With 5 letters and a year it is not likely that you will get the info you are looking for.

Did you inherit the trunk - it belongs in the family?

Who is Anne - is she on your family tree?

An online tree has "Gullack Rear" married to "Anne Ovok" born 1841.
http://www.genealogy.com/ftm/m/c/k/Nels-G-Mckay/GENE12-0002.html

Coming back with a better tree but I'll leave the above tree since it matches "Anne Ovok born 1841."
link

We don't know who you are talking about. If these posted family trees apply to your ancestry, and if the trunk belongs in your family, and if the trees are correct with research, and if the trunk says N Ovok, then the trunk may have belonged to Anne's father Nels or maybe stands for (Anne) Nelson Ovok / or Aavok.

Find-a-Grave seems to have some errors: link

Here is Nils Arnesen on Aavok in the 1865 census. His daughter Anne was born about 1862:
https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01038074006117

Here is the family migration in 1873, Niels and all:
https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/gen/vis/8/pe00000000925709

If the trunk says N Ovok then the other Anne isn't right at all, if she is Andersdatter as FAG says.

Well the county history book says Gullick and Anne married in Wisconsin in 1866. Certainly that 1865 census isn't the same "Anne Ovok born 1841" mentioned in the opening statement.

There's a scramble of varying information out there and seemingly errors but we need more information on the trunk and its provenance to answer this particular question.

As Jane says, it would be best to have the provenance, the history of ownership of the trunk, if possible to get from the Original Poster.

Anne born 07 March 1844
link

Find-a-Grave tombstone posted has Anne Andersdatter (no source for "Andersdatter") with tombstone inscribed birth date 08 March 1844. The biography says that Gullik's family came from Valdres, so this birth, on the link, is from Nord-Aurdal, Oppland.

Perhaps one of the three Aavok farms in Nordre Gausdal, Oppland county?
Aavok-Ovok, almost the same pronunciation

At least superficially the two Annes are related maybe, Anne 1844 may be the aunt of Anne 1862 since Anne 1844 and Niels, Anne 1862's father are Arnesdatter and Arneson.
