Here is a baptism for a Hanna Mathilda that looks promising. Born out of wedlock in Buskerud, mother is Nicoline Hansdatter from Land. Born Feb 20, 1868. See number 20. Father is named Ole Pedersen.

Great finds Anton.

Poking a bit more at the father of the Oscar born in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, didn't find any better candidate in Norway than this Anton Torgersen. He was born in May, which fits with the Anton in Lacrosse in 1900 census:
1855 birth

1865 census

Could be the same Anton traveling to LaCrosse:

The family tree posted is overall relatively consistent with what the research found. Some of the discrepancies seem to have no source other than a family member's recollection (such as names of Anton's parents), so maybe the differences can be attributed to lapses and errors in family memory or family lore.

In the obit on the following link, the names mirror those on the family tree. The family in the obit had lived in Chelan, Saskatchewan. Our descendant said his Oscar is buried in Chelan. Our descendant has the same name as a son in the obit. I suspect the Oscar in the obit is our descendent's Oscar. If so, then the obit ties our descendant to the posted tree -- and to the Oscar Torgersen born in LaCrosse as son of Anton and Hannah Mathilde.
link

The tree says Oscar lived in "Helan, Saskatchewan" and probably buried there. This place must be a typo for "Chelan, Saskatchewan."

This version of Anton's and Hanna's marriage gives her parents as Lars Larson and Nicholina Jacobson:

Very interesting Jackie. There is a Lars Larson married to Nicholena living in La Crosse County. On page one I posted the family from the 1880 Census. Here is Lars and wife in 1920. In the 1880 Census there is a Tilda but her birth year is 1868 same as the Hannah Mathilda from Ådal, Buskerud but a little young to marry in 1882.

The 1880 Census for Lars Larson and wife Nicoline shows a son named Bernt sp?. The likely Bernt has a confirmation in 1878 in La Crosse County. I think the transcriber has the mothers name a little off and it is really Randine Østensdatter. So some questions come up, is this the same Bernt from the 1880 Census and if so where is Randine and when did Nicoline come into play? This family beyond Oscar is a little hard to sort out.

Bernt Larsen
in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940
Name: Bernt Larsen
Event Type: Confirmation
Birth Date: 1862
Confirmation Date: 22 May 1878
Father: Lars Larsen
Mother: Raudine Estensdtr
Church Name: Halfway Creek Congregation
Church Location: Holmen, Wisconsin

Baptism of Bernt probably number 14

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/kb20070202610179

Probably the family in the 1865 Census

https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01038067000201

Mother Randine and three children Lauritz, Bernt and Karen immigration record in 1869.

https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/gen/vis/8/pe00000000400733

There is indication from a tree that Randine died in 1872 and that Lars then married Nicoline Hansdatter. I have not seen a record of the death.

DEATH 07 DEC 1872 • Halfway Creek, La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States

However I did find the second marriage for Lars.

Enkemand Lars Larsen Hong
in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940
Name: Enkemand Lars Larsen Hong
Event Type: Marriage
Marriage Date: 14 Mar 1874
Marriage Place: La Crosse, Wisconsin
Spouse: Nicoline Hansdtr
Father: Lars Hong
Mother: Berthe Johannesdtr
Church Name: Upper Lewis Valley Congregation
Church Location: Mindoro, Wisconsin

I think Hong must be Haug? Also in thie original ELCA record the parents of Nicoline are named Hans Jakobson and Marit Nilsdatter. So that must be where the Jakobson comes from in the marriage record found by Jackie.

The more I dig the more it looks as if the Legacyfamlytree that Jane found is quite accurate and covers much of what I have found quite well. However I think that Jane has probably found the correct parents of Anton Torgersen and the tree is only partially correct there.

I wonder a little about Christian Moe and where he comes from. I see a Lauritz Moe as well living in La Crosse at about the same time as Christian. Here is a family on Sagmoen with sons Kristian and Lauritz born about the correct year to fit the Christian and Lauritz Moe from La Crosse County.

https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01038062005248

Lauritz born Oct 13, 1862

Christian born Dec 2, 1853

I agree about the Legacy family tree.

Could this marriage record be Hannah Mathilde Torgerson (instead of Jorgenson)?

24 Sept 1904
Onalaska, LaCrosse, Wisconsin
Groom: Christian J Moe
....parents Christian Moe and Jinder Johnson
Bride: Mathilda Jorgenson
....parents Ole Olson and Lena Hanson

Family Search has a Christian I Moi in Onalaska in 1900, single, emigrated 1883, born September 1853: link

Birth Oct 1905
Mindoro, LaCrosse, Wisconsin (in Farmington Twp)
Gena Mitilda
Father: Christian J Moe

So Christian or Kristian Moe must have went back to Norway after his marriage.. Here he is leaving Oslo. in 1915. The birth date on this record matches the one I posted above.

https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/gen/vis/8/pe00000001147840

Here he is on his arrival into New York. States his nearest relative from whence he came is sister Gunner Hanstad (Gunnar is not a female name), in Ringebu. Probably referring to the sister Gønner born in 1849.

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/kb20070603590039

and here in the 1910 Census

http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1910&knr=0520&kenr=003&bnr=0017&lnr=00

He is going to his brother Lauritz Moe, 1519 Wilbago Str. La Crosse Wis. (probably 1519 Winnebago Street which is on the map).

Christian Moe
in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Name: Christian Moe
Arrival Date: 29 Oct 1915
Birth Date: abt 1854
Birth Location: Nrw
Birth Location Other: vinge co
Age: 61
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Scandinavian
Port of Departure: Kristiania,nrw
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Kristianiafjord

He also answers that he lived in La Crosse from 1878 to 1914.

Wouldn't that be a different Christian Moe, since Hannah Mathilde and her Christian moved to Canada about 1908?

Going back and looking at the immigration record from 1915, I am wondering if he was not just passing through the US visiting his brother and then from there returning to Canada. Needs looking further at, but hard to imagine another Christian Moe tied so closely to La Crosse.

The Christian Moe returning form Norway in 1915 has the same birth date as the Christian Moe found in the 1865 Census and is brother to Lauritz Moe from La Crosse. It is also the about the same birth year ,, about 1853, as the Christian Moe who married Mathida.

Looks like there is a third Moe from that same family living in La Crosse. Here is an Anton Moe with the same parents as Christian and Lauritz.

Mr Anton Moe
in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940
Name: Mr Anton Moe
Event Type: Marriage
Marriage Date: 21 Mar 1894
Marriage Place: La Crosse, Wisconsin
Spouse: Alette Holte
Father: Christen Moe
Mother: Agnete Larsen
Church Name: Norwegian Lutheran Church
Church Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin

According to the 1900 Census he was born in Feb 1866.
