Speaking of conincidences, Berith Olsdatter Kattevold who married Erick Viken named one of her sons Edwin. The other sister Magrete Olsdatter Kattevold who married Ivan Nyhagen also named a son Edwin. Later on in the saga both of the Edwins married the same women Myrtle B Engbrecht.

So maybe the Edwin name has a history in the Kattevold (Vold) family

Also interesting is that Berith is given the name Vold in this FAG record.

FAG

And Magrethe uses the name Vold in this record

Iver Nyhagen
in the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007
Name: Iver Nyhagen
Gender: Male
Spouse: Margaret Vold
Child: Ida Caroline Nyhagen

Yes Edwin Nyhagen aka Edwin Otis Holen's parents are Iver and Margrit Vold Nyhagen. That we are certain.

I've spoken with Edwin Nyhagen's grandson who said he could remember his parents visiting Edwin when Edwin was married to Maezy (his 4th wife). It appears that while Edwin and Anna Nyhagen lived in Luck WI (1920 census), so did Ellen Hayes with her family. An ancestry.com family tree mentions that Edwin Nyhagen "disappeared" around 1929. A 1930 census indicates that Edwin Otis Holen and Ellen Holen live in Indiana, which is where Edwin remained with his next 3 wives (Ellen, xxxx and Maezy). I don't know what to think about his death in Sarasota, Fla.other than maybe he died while vacationing or taking up residence during the winter months. I think he's buried in Pelican Rapids, MN after marriage to his 5th wife, Myrtle.

This may be the second wife Ellen in 1940 census, except she's widowed:

Looks like Mary Elizabeth Gebhart Coate in 1940

1940

Married to Edwin Otis Holen

And in Indiana in 1930 there is Ellen must be Ellen Johnson Hayes

1930

Married to Edwin Otis Holen

And as Pam posted above Ellen Jonson Hayes was living in Polk County Wisconsin in the 1920 Census.

1920

Married to August Hayes
