When you get as far back in time as you now are with this family line you can usually find a Family Tree on Geni.com that describes the family. For this family here is the Geni, com Famly Tree for Karl Mikkelsen Semmen. One always must be careful with online family tree's and do as much checking on your own as you can to ensure yourself that the data found there is accurate. For example in this tree the birth year for Karl Mikkelsen Semmen is given as circa 1725 and we know it is actually 1722. And the location given is somewhat confusing in the use of the Ringerike location in part of the birth data.

However you can sometimes use these online trees as a guide for searching further back in time. This tree takes you back a long ways.

Ole died Dec 3, 1848, He is under the name Ole Nilsen Trøgstadeie.

#82

I think that this is Ole Nielsen living at Trøgstad in the 1801 Census. He is listed as a foster-son. The parents are listed as Niels Christensen and Mari Pedersdatter. He is 5 years old at the time of the census.

Here on a different forum is a discussion of who might be the parents of Ole Nielsen. The poster is writing on behalf of an American. The information given on Ole Nielsen fits your Ole Nielsen very well. The original poster has also come to the same conclusion as I did that the Ole Nielsen living at Trøgstad in the 1801 Census is the correct Ole Nielsen. Another poster has suggested a Ole Nielsen Holte as the same person but that seems to have not been proven true as Ole Nielsen Holte is found to have been married and with two children.
