Information from Aurland bygdebok "Undredal og Nærøy" Gard og Ætt by Åsmund Ohnstad.
The Stegen (Stigen) farms is not just one farm, In the early 1800's there were several sub-farms including one belonging to Hans Eriksen Stegen who was the first husband of Ingrid Kjelsdatter Flam. After the death of Hans Eriksen Stegen in 1836, Ingrid married Eilev Sjursen Vidme father of your Severine. In her first marriage Ingrid had at least three children including one named Hans born in 1835 and who became the next owner of the Stegen sub-farm. He and his family are found on one of the Stegen sub-farms in the 1865 Census. In her second marriage Ingrid and Eliv had two children including your Severine. It appears that after the death of her first husband, that Ingrid and her second husband continued living on one of the Stegen farms along with the son Hans from the first marriage on another Stegen sub-farm..
It seems that when Severine married Jens Jørgensen Styvi they lived on Bakke.
And after Severine and Jens moved to Bakke the sub-farms of Stegen were occupied by the parents Elif Sjursen and Ingrid Kjeldsdttre one one sub-farm and the step-brother of Severine, Hans Ericksen Stegen and his family on another of the sub-farms. On the two other sub-farms are other families that may or may not be related to your family.
One thing that surprised me is that the bygdebok indicated that the parents of Severine, Elif Sjursen and Ingerid Kjeldsdatter left Norway for America in 1871. The bygdebok lists their destination as Holden Church, Goodhue Minnesota |

It also looks like one of sisters of Severine, named Anna Oline born 1838 and married to Tomas B Sæbo in 1861 also travelled to the Holden Church in Goodhue County in 1864.

As with Severine the parents of Anna Oline are Eilef Sjursen and Ingerid Kjeldsdattter. She was born Oct 31, 1838.

Anna Oline married Thomas Baltharsen on June 6, 1861. He was the son of Baltharsar Baltharsen.

Thomas is from Lærdal and is from the farm of Sæbe. Here is mother and father in the 1865 Census.

In the 1870 US Census it shows her in Pope County with several children, two were born in Norway.

The emigration record did not show any children but two were born in Norway. Here is the baptism record for Hans born in 1864.

Looks like the parents of Thomas also came to America. On the same page as Anna in the 1870 Census are Balser Balserson and his wife.

| Nice find Jackie, Ole Martin is a son of Jens Jørgensen Styve and Severian Elifsdatter Stegen. Born in 1881 in Goodhue County, Minnesota. He married Hansine Ohnstad as your information shows. |

It has been awhile since I have posted here. Appreciate help with two things - are there records of what church Jens Styvi and Siverine Elifsdatter were married in. Also plan to be in the Gudvangen/Bakke area the end of this June - is there somewhere/someone who can help put some more pieces of this puzzle together?

I did look at the marriage record - but other than being able to pick out the names, could not understand any of the other notations.

As you look at the page this information is at the top of the page. It tells you the name of the parish and which of their books you are viewing:
