I am trying to track down info on Soren Olson.
He was born on October 6, 1818 and died on Jan. 6, 1898. He died in America but I think he was born in Norway. Any info is appreciated.

A candidate from Ancestry.com

Soren Olsen
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926

Gender: Male
Marriage Date: 31 des 1848 (31 Dec 1848)

Last record in 1848, right hand page, the farm name connected with Annie is Lystad. Farm connected with Søren is some version of Skaarer.

The age listed here of 22 does not fit the birth data from the death record?

The family living in Nes, Askerhus in the 1865 Census.

Another way to look at the same data

1865

So this is likely the baptism record for Lina born in 1863 and found in the 1880 US Census.

This is the baptism record for the sister of Anne Nielsdatter wife of Søren Olsen. Ingeri is found in the marriage record for her sister Anne and Søren. Finding the records for Odalen around 1820 is a little difficult.

Ingri Nilsen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Ingri Nilsen
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 8 apr 1818
Baptism Date: 26 apr 1818
Baptism Place: Sor Odal,Hedmark,Norway
Father: Niels Andersen
Mother: Berte Tostensdr
FHL Film Number: 124377

Ingeri can be found living on the Lystad farm in the 1865 Census.

Link

So the parents of Anne Nielsdatter wife of Søren Olsen are also Niels Andersen and Berte Tostensdatter

The Anne who married Søren Olsen was born May 23, 1820. Parents are Niels Andersen Lystad and Berte Tostensdatter.

#36

Niels and Berte had a daughter born in 1815 also named Anne but she died in 1817 and so they gave this daughter the same name.

It may be that the ELCA record that lists the parents of Søren Olsen as Ole Gundersen and Karen Gundersen is not correct. Perhaps the parents of Søren are this couple, and the Gundersen name is attached to Karen and not Ole.

It would appear that Anne Nielsdatter was married twice. The first time to Engebret Jenssen and that Tørkild Ingebritsen is a child from that marriage.

Torkild Ingebretsen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Torkild Ingebretsen
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 30 jun 1842
Baptism Date: 17 jul 1842
Baptism Place: Sor Odal,Hedmark,Norway
Father: Engebret Jenssen
Mother: Anne Nielsdr
FHL Film Number: 124378

And that Ole Pedersen had at least one son before he married Anne Nielsdatter. The farm associated with sons of Ole Pedersen was called Skaarildbraaten,

Name: Peder Olsen
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 19 des 1811 (19 Dec 1811)
Baptism Date: 1 jan 1812
Baptism Place: Sor Odal,Hedmark,Norway
Father: Ole Pedersen
Mother: Anne Svensdr

Are any of these family members related to Halvor Olson? All of them came from Norway, all settled in Wisconsin, and all of them settled in the same area of Wisconsin which is Green Valley.

This is a complicated family and some issues with the family need to be sorted out before we can move on to the relationship with Halvor Olson.

Also it would be very useful if you could answer the question from jkmarler so we know which Halvor Olson you are interested in.
