Ideus Børresen was born 1862 in Biri, Norway. He was the son of Børre Knudsen and Karen Kristiansdatter. Ideus was born at Tømteneiet, but the parents lived at Sigstadpladsen later. In 1883 he emigrated to America. He went by the ship Angelo in April 1883. I wonder if it is possible to find out something about him in America? |

With a first name like Idius the man should stand out, but pickings are slim. Here might be someone of interest, birthyear off a bit, migration year off a bit in 1920 Swift county, Minnesota census: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MW1R-TXN
Idius Lien Head M 60 Norway Antonetta Lien Wife F 59 Norway Mons Lien Son M 36 Minnesota Clara Lien Daughter F 32 Minnesota Julia Lien Daughter F 29 Minnesota
Idius M. Lien in Findagrave: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/121766977/idius-m.-lien
He appears to be even less a match, but its interesting to see the many ways his name was mangled in the various record transcriptions: Edius, Edine, Idine, etc. |

I speculate that the two Edvord / Edvardt Børresen leaving from Trondheim are the same man with some ripples. There appears to be no other Edward Borreson candidates leaving Norway for America who could be the 33 year Edw Burrison in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1895. I speculate that the name Idius was possibly Americanized to Edward, since there really isn't an English equivalent of that name. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it until something better comes along! |
