There is a grave for Gulbrand's nephew Elmar, who took over the farm after his father, Gulbrand's younger brother Bernt Christian. Link. No photogrpah, though. This Elmar Berntsen Asmyhr is included in at least three different family trees on Myheritage, all with Norwegian adminitrators. |

When Elmar died in 1995, a woman named Svanhild Graarud signed the obituary on behalf of the family. Not sure how she relates to Elmar. Possibly a daughter? She was born 1921. Svanhild died in 2007, and her property was transferred to Runar Helge Graarud and Alf Olav Graarud, likely her sons. They reside 7 km north of Asmyhr farm. |

I found the newspaper advertisement before Svanhild's funeral in 2007. No maiden name was given, but her birth date was listed as Sept 22, 1921. Elmar was born in 1902, so technically she could be his daughter, although not by his wife, who was born in 1908. Possibly Elmer didn't have children, and Svanhild was a more remote relative. |

Confirmation record from October 5th, 1856: #4 Anne Maria Hansdatter Søndre Braadal Born 27 Dec 1839 Parents: Hans Olsen & Dorthea Hansdatter
Clues for the mother to Marie: In the birth record for Marie, it says "30 Years, 28 Dec 1871" In the death record for Marie, she is named Anne Marie Hansdatter Braadal
So she should have been born 28 Dec 1841... |

Svanhild was Elmars's niece, daughter of his elder brother Magnus, born 1894. Magnus married in 1919 and died in 1921. The pair had two daughters, Alfhild Marie, born in 1920, and Svanhild Kaspara, born Sept 22, 1921 after Magnus had passed away. |

It is a little curious why it has been so hard to find the record for the emigration of Gulbrand Amundsen. Here is the record for his brother Hans leaving in 1870.
Link
Hans
It looks like Hans Amundsen also used the last name of Gran as well
Hans Amundsen Gran in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Church Records, 1781-1969 Name: Hans Amundsen Gran Gender: Male Record Type: Marriage Marriage Date: 3 May 1878 Marriage Place: MT Horeb, Wisconsin, USA Father: Amund Olsen Mother: Mari Hansdtter Spouse: Inger Dorethea Hoff Church Name: Springdale Lutheran Church Church Location: MT Horeb, Wisconsin
Birth date on the Naturalizaion record matches with the baptism record from Digitalarkviet
Hans A Grann in the U.S. Naturalization Record Indexes, 1791-1992 (Indexed in World Archives Project) Name: Hans A Grann Birth Date: 6 Sep 1850 Birth Place: Norway Age at event: 55 Court District: Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa Year of Arrival: 1870 Date of Action: 3 Sep 1906

This is likely the marriage of Amund Olsen and Mari Hansdatter the parents of the various children using the Gran name.
Amund Olsen in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926Name: Amund Olsen Gender: Male Marriage Date: 28 des 1847 (28 Dec 1847) Marriage Place: , Gjerdrum, Akershus, Norway Spouse: Mari Hansdr FHL Film Number: 278160
A lot of information in the original record about these two. He was born in Ullensaker March 4, 1824 and his father was named Ole Gudmundsen Olstad Eie. She was born in Gjerdrum in June of 1820? (see later) and her father was Hans Hansen Asmyr.
#11
From her confirmation record we learn that her mother was named Berthe Larsdatter. And here her baptism date is March 12, 1820
#7

Probably Hans Hansen born abt 1778 in the 1801 Census on Asmyr
1801
And his baptism record

This is likely the baptism record for Ole Gudmundsen, the birth year is 1801 a little different from the 1804 found in the Census, but the farm is Holum.

Orignal record is middle of the bottom set of baptisms.

Gudmund Olsen and wife Geirtrude Halvorsdatter and family in the 1801 Census living on Holum. Son Jacob is listed in the marriage record for brother Ole in 1824
1801
Now far enough back in time to pick up some Family Tree's. The Geni.com tree gives the wife of Ole Gudmundsen the name Margrethe Andersdatter. A little difficult to read the marriage record posted above but that could be a correct reading of the marriage record but it could also be Amundsdatter. But the 1865 Census would give the name as Amundsdatter.

Good post Tore. That information matches the 1865 Census data well. It also allows me to do some guessing. Hadeland is not a parish but more of a region and that region does include Jevnaker parish. In the marriage record one of the witnesses is a Jens Amundsen Olstad. Now I ddi not find a Amund at Olstad but I did find a Amund Halvorsen b abt 1760 who does have a son Jens Amundsen born abt 1793.
1801
And he did have a daughter born in 1803.
Margrete Amundsdatter in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927 Name: Margrete Amundsdatter [Margrete Halvorsen] Gender: Female Baptism Date: 6 feb 1803 Baptism Place: Jevnaker, Oppland, Norway Father: Amund Halvorsen Mother: Marte Jensdatter FHL Film Number: 125505
Middle of the right hand page

And this information from Heritage
"Amund Halvorsen, 1760 - 1805 Amund Halvorsen was born on month day 1760, at birth place, to Halvor Gudmundsen and Kari Gudmundsen (born Amundsdatter). Halvor was born on October 15 1724, in Roen, Jevnaker. Kari was born in 1728, in Rønnerud, Jevnaker."
Leads back to a Geni.com tree

In the marriage record for Ole Gudmundsen and Margrethe Amundsdtr, the bride is listed with a farm name that can be read as Rambye, also entered (with a "?") in the bygdebook paragraph above. Ramby is another farm in Ullensaker, and the bygdebook paragraph below is from the section on Ramby, showing that father and son Amund and Jens that you found, lived there for a period.
