Hello to all formites who have diligently worked on tracing my father, Elias Olsen. Here is some news. I did the Family Tree DNA test and paid for one for a person in Norway who had a missing Elias Olsen in their family. Guess what, we are related 1st or 2nd cousins. I have been in contact with this person and have received some information regarding Elias Olsen. One is his Christening in Birkland church. Elias Olsen was born in 1897. He did in fact sail off on the S.S..Carmania and left the ship in Canada. they have no information since then. I am going to try and obtain his Christening information from the church to see if it matches up with the grandparents names I have been given. I shall give you news when I get some.

Don't make this more complicated than it already is. The correct Elias was found back in September, and his parents are Ole Eriksen & Malene Martinusdatter.

Elias in Census-1900
Elias as driver/farmhand in Census-1910
Rest of his family in Census-1910

The recent DNA match was made between Audlin and the grand-daughter of Elias' sister Oline Mathilde Olsdatter,

Not complicated.
Forget about the 1924 man on the S.S. Carmania. He was chased only because he was a namesake. The search for Elias Olsen has been loaded of erroneous assumptions from the beginning.

We have previously seen that Elias Olsen Skjoldheim escaped the Farmand of Bergen when it was in port in Bathurst, New Brunswick, CA in 1914. The ship Farmand left Bathurst in Oct 10 1914, headed for Havana.

What he did between 1914 and his marriage in 1943 is not clear, but I don't think that is the goal of this topic.

Here is his christening record. His birthdate was 16 May 1895. #26 Elias Olsen

Elias Olsen's siblings were Oline Mathilde Olsdatter, Marta Emilie Olsdatter, Martin Olsen, Lars Kristoffer Olsen and Ole Olsen. I am in contact with Oline's grand-daughter and I am positive I have the correct Elias. However, I will double check with her regarding Elias's and Olin's parents. My DNA match was in the 460 and I am definitely a 1st or 2nd cousin to this family.

Elias Olsen Skjoldheim jumped shup in Bathurst in 1914 while sailing with the S/S Farmand. I wonder if someone may have misread this as Carmania.
