It says the parents were Ole Hansen and Marie Siverdatter from Finnestad but on Finnestad Ole Hansen was married to Marthe Rasmusdatter and they were the parents of Ole Olsen who was actually married to (Berthe) Marie Siverdatter in March 1859. She used her second name as she had a living sister also called Berthe. Marthe Rasmusdatter was too old to be the mother by that time - 61 years old. It looks like Marthe was one of the witnesses. There is another entry for the death of "Olaus" on 29 September 1863, 4 and a half years old and it gives the father as Ole Olsen from Finnestad.
There were no other families on Finnestad with the same names at that time. I think that "Olaus" is the same child in both entries. Can any one help to explain the differences in father, please! Is it a mistake, an illegitimate birth or something else? Thank you! Karen.
Thank you both very much for your replies and the links.
Are mistakes like this uncommon? I have not come across anything like this before but then my experience with the archives is limited.
The link for the 1865 family census has brought up another question. I had seen this information on the old archives database and it gives the number 565 with the headings. No mention of 1371. The new website says that 565 is the residence number. The link above says the street number is 1371, no mention of 565. I have looked at the original census record and it seems that 565 may be the page number and 1371 is the residence number. All are in Rode 7c. Which is correct?
If 1371 is the house number and not 565 I have been looking at the wrong house. On this website there is no current street address for the house at 1371. Does this mean that it no longer exists?
The 565 number is the number of the form (liste no.) that was used to record the information. If you page through a couple of the other forms you see that the Liste no. goes up or down by only 1 number for each but the "house number" goes up or down by number as well but not just a regular 1 number. You may also look in Content under the Hovedliste which begins on page 4 to see this also.
