Would surprise me if this is our man. The middle name A does not fit, nor imigration year nor birth date. Thanks anyway, good try!

This fellow was a little hard to follow. His birthyear is all over the board Jul 1867, 1868, 1865, 1871, 1874, 1875; year of migration also varies 1893, 1898, rendering of his last name varies a lot, too. He does have a younger brother whose name is not Knut but Sam and whose birthdate is about 10 years off his brother's, so way more than 2 years. Ole's naturalization record says he landed in Aug 1893 in New York and gives middle initial as K. So here is the exploration:

This might very well be our Ole, not? Strongest indication is that same location address all down the line. Isnt differences in name rendering mostly down to misreading of handwriting ? What is the "naturilazation index" anyway?

Well, the naturalization record is Ole's record of process to become US citizen. Not sure if he became citizen as usually month and year of arrival are found in the first papers.

The brother Sam is of interest but I suspect after looking for him that he and Ole came from Hitterdal in Telemark or some other place in Telemark, so might not be yours anyway.

If you are registered and signed in at familysearch you can look at the links to the various census schedules and judge for yourself on how the name got messed up.

Ancestry found a person named K Seljord in 1949 voter list in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He was a janitor. However, this person is likely to be Kittle Seljard who died on 28 July 1951 in St. Albert, Alberta.

According to the index at the Alberta archives, Kittle's birth date is 16 Dec 1878.

Here is a Kittel Hansen Hegna born 16 Dec 1878 leaving Norway for Canada:https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/8/pe00000001137610

Here is Kittel H. Siljord in 1910 census:

Aaaah, I understand. These Kittils are not the one. In the district og Telemark, South Norway, there is an area, Seljord, without the letter s in the middle, very similar to the North Gudbrandsdal farm name Selsjord. Seems to me emigrants from Heddal and Seljord in Telemark tend to convert to Seljords in the US.
In North Gudbrandsdal the Selsjord farm and familiy name also occurs from two different sources: One of them at Sel county, which is our people, the other Selsjord originates from Lesja, a few miles further up the valley.

In family search broadening the base of information there are 45 Ole Jacobsons living in US in 1900 census with birth years between 1860 and 1870. None, of course have the requisite birth month / year, migration year information to match Ole Selsjord. Some whose name information are inadequate to read have been left out of the following count:
1 each Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts, Washington, California, New York
3 each Illinois, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota
4 each Wisconsin
15 each Minnesota
