One guy we will have to eliminate. When I have the immigration record up on the screen on Ancestry.com, Ancestry also pulls up a lot of records for this guy. Now he is not an Offerdal so that helps.

Ole Hansen Offerdal Bjørkum Burkum 1845–1922 BIRTH 04 JAN 1845 • Offerdal, Lærdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway DEATH 1922 • Utica, Crawford, Wisconsin, USA
However the Tree says he got married in Norway in 1870
So he was a viable candidate but I think we can eliminate this one., unless he came to US in 1865 as a single man, went back to Norway got married and came back with wife in 1870.
Still need to keep looking to make sure we have not missed one.
My ancestor is in the US federal census in in June 1870 so its probably not him. This does not prove that the passenger on the Sleipner was my Ole it is looking more likely. About how many people would be from Offerdal anyway?
There is no record of a Ole Hansen Offerdal or Bjørkheim leaving Lærdal in 1865. The only record for him is when he left Lærdal in April of 1870 with his wife; Record is posted above under #40 and 41.

Tough question to accurately answer since many times Norwegians used a farm name in various ways. It may have been where they were living when they left, where they were born or even where they might have worked or lived in the time before they left Norway.
But there were 51 people living on the Oferdal farm in the 1865 Norwegian Census. Three with the first name of Ole none of these are of interest to you.
You can use the NHDC site and enter Oferdal as the farm name.
