Dear Lyndal 40, thank you for your messages. Is there anyway to fine out where and when Johannes Johannesen my great-great- grandfather was born?
It only made sense that Margith was born in 1879 as my mother Edna Magnusson was born in 1907. I only knew my Grandmother Margith Andersdatter (sen)-Magnusson not my Grandfather It means a lot to know of my Grandmother's side.. Thank you., Joan
The record I posted yesterday was for Anders the son of Johannes Johannesen. That record shows that Anders was born out of wedlock. Here again is the record. Farm name after Inger Ols.is likely some combination of Huflaaden and Bratteqverne.
Probably the confirmation of Anders Johansen in 1842. Here his father is named Johan Johansen Huflaaten? and mother is Inger Ols. Farm looks like Bratteqverne.
His father was Johannes Fridrichsen Hejs (also Heiss)
The Bygdebok for Huflaaten, Stokke mentions, him his wife and his two sons. He is called Johannes Heiss under Bruk 2. Although the birth year for him can not be correct.
Emil Magunson in the Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935 Name: Emil Magunson Gender: Male Arrival Age: 21 Birth Year: abt 1885 Departure Port: Liverpool, England Arrival Date: 23 Dec 1906 Arrival Port: St John, New Brunswick, Canada Vessel: Empress of Ireland
Probably Emil and family in the 1900 Norwegian Census. He comes from a big family.
I know almost nothing personally, about my grandfather Emil Eugen Magnusson. 2 weeks ago I was contacted on Ancestry DNA by a second cousin who shared the same great grandparents, her grandmother Hulda Magnusson was my grandfather's sister .I saw my grandfather last when I was 6 years old. If you have anymore records I would appreciate receiving them. I was close to Margith Andersen Magnusson. Thank you, Joan

Hi. I am new to this forum. My mother’s relatives were all born in Norway. I have a book that i had received from a relative there, that I had translated to English. It mentions my great grandfather Johan Johannesen. I am not sure if it is the same person you are discussing, but I thought I would share just in case. ——- TRANSLATION TO ENGLISH:
REF. 20A Johan Bernhard Johannesen 1862-1907, los, later, freight boat skipper G. 1886 Stine Bertea Matiasdatter 1864-1940, Kvistedal. Children: 1) Johan Hjalmar 1887 g. Signy Olsen Aavik, see ndf. 10) Mimmi Tomine 1906 g. Hans Colbjornsen Faye, see ndf.
Stina was a sister to Tora Kristiansen in No. 11 and to Matilde Saaby in No. 15.
Johan Johannesen deprived himself of a customs ruler in Kleven 1901-1902, 1904 and 1905-1906. As a young man, he sailed with Anne Marie
Stina and her many children became hard when Johan died in pneumonia. To get money, she had to take the job of rowing out and hanging up on Rya in the evening and taking it in the morning. The children also had to work, gather rekved and the like, and Wellman's son started as a newspaper only five years old. Prayer was when most of the children eventually emigrated to the United States and started sending money home. Only Sverre, Mimmi and Wellman remained in Norway, but Wellman was in America 1928-1932 and 1934-36. Meanwhile, Stina and her daughter Mimmi lived with the family in the house. Stina sat a lot with the long binoculars and cost the window view. She was the one who had the afternoon sun at the far end of Kleven.
In his old days, Stina's uncle lived in Kleven, Tobias Knudsen (1833-1922) from Kvistedal. He had married in 1854 with Sile Tomine Torkelsdatter from ....
Coasters Johan Bernhard Johannesen 1862-1907 who passed away while the youngest children were still small.
From the 1910 Census we have the birth date for Hans Hansen of March 25, 1867.
On that date a Hans is recorded born to Salve Hansen. so it would appear that Hans took his fathers last name rather than the usual Norwegian practice of the fathers first name plus sen or son.
Hans Hansen was born March 25, 1867 His father is Salve Hansen and his mother is Johanne Severine Salvesdatter
