Is anyone at all familiar with the scanned records of Norwegian legal records at the Digitalarkivet that I MIGHT want to search through but am not sure of what type of content they might have. Specifically I was interested in - Hadeland og Land tingrett RETTERGANG, Ekstrarettsprotokoller Ekstrarettsprotokoll (Extraordinary court records)
My familiarity with the Norwegian language is somewhat limited to those words and phrases that I've become comfortable with in censuses, parish records and many bygdeboks. A reading would not be easy for me - but I'll certainly try and work hard at it. I do own a good Norwegian-English dictionary (tattered and coffee stained from years of use..)
But I'm completely unsure of what types of legal cases might be included in "Extraordinary court records" and would appreciate the advice of anyone here who might just happen to already know. Thank you for listening to my unusual question.
In one ekstrarettsprotokoll in Hedmark I found a lot of adultery ("leiermål") cases. The one I was interested in contained an abundance of information on the adulterer, far beyond anything found in other sources. But the script was a pain...
Tore - Thank you! That is exactly what I was hoping might be included. The book I have started to work on is 'Hadeland og Land tingrett, G/Gc/L0002: Ekstrarettsprotokoll, 1816-1823' and the handwriting will be very difficult but I will gladly work on it with high hopes of the results I want. Thank you again!!
