Due to some wonderfully helpful people I have found the places that 3 of my Norwegian grandparents, and their parents and grandparents lived in Norway. I’m going to visit Norway this fall for a month, and want to find out where the 4th person's parents and grandparents lived so I can also visit that place. I am afraid that the information I put on ancestry about Maren’s parents and grandparents is wrong. This is what I know about Maren when she lived in Norway:
Maren Marie Dahl (1828–1915) ]lived at 0295 Gjetveiten, Trondhjem Sor-Trondelag, with her husband Jakob Jensen Nesvold. who was a master house painter. They were married in Domkirken 03 Aug 1848. I don’t know when they came to the US, because although their son Axel Ludvig Jacobsen Nesvold (1851-1910) came to the US in June 1868, I don’t see Maren or Jakob on the ship roster. They didn’t come before 1869 because they had a baby born that year in Trondheim. They eventually came to Chicago Illinois. Maren and Jakob had many children. I know about all the ones who came to Chicago and who they married, etc. but Maren Dahl’s past is still a mystery. Their children were:
1. Daughter Ida Marie Jacobsdatter Neswold 1849–1866 lived her whole life in Trondheim.
2. Son Jakob Axel my great grandfather was born in Trondheim but came to Chicago.
3. daughter Anna Bernharde Jacobsdatter (1852 – 1887) lived her whole life in Trondheim.
4. Daughter Maren Marie Neswold (1854 – 1937) eventually moved to Kristiansand, Norway.
5. Son Richard Christopher Knoff Jacobsen Naesvold (1855 – 1855) was a twin who died in Trondheim.
6. Son Jacob Magnus Jakobsen Neswold (1857 – 1899 ) also came to Chicago to live.
7. son Johannus (James) Jacobsen Neswold (1862-1924) was born in Trondheim but also came to Chicago to live.
8. daughter Nicoline Susanne Jac.sdatter (1864-1938) was born in Trondheim but came to Chicago to live.
9. daughter Olga Neswold (1836 – 1937) was born in Trondheim but came to Chicago to live.
10. daughter Ida Jacobsdatter Marie Neswold (1866) only lived a short while in Trondheim
11. daughter Ingeborg Anna Neswold was either born in 1860 or 1869 in Trondheim and died at some unknown time in Trondheim.
12. Walborg (Wally) Jacobsdatter Neswold (1869 – 1918) was born in Trondheim and came to Chicago to live.

Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

In the 1910 census Maren is reported as having come to US in 1874.
Here is the confirmation record of one of her children in 1872 still in Trondheim:

Hmm, I looked at the Tree on Ancestry that belongs to Mary and she has as parents for Maren Marie.

Lars Olsen Dahl
BIRTH 1790 • Folldal, Hedmark, Norway
DEATH Norway

and

Ingeborg Elisabeth Andersdr Holm
BIRTH 12 NOV 1811 • Vestre Moland, Aust-Agder, Norway
DEATH 21 DEC 1885 • Aust-Agder, Norway

Maren Marie Dahl
1828–1915
BIRTH 25 APRIL 1828 • Trondheim, Sor-Trondelag, Norway
DEATH 16 FEB 1915 • Cook, Illinois, United States

I wonder why she thinks her tree is incorrect. Maybe right names but from the wrong areas. Aust-Agder is a long ways from Trondheim.

There is a couple Lars Olsen Dahl and Gunnild Johansdatter with childen in Trondheim in the 1830's. I wonder if Lars Olsen Dahl was married twice.

Here is one child

Johanna Dahl
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Johanna Dahl
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 26 mai 1832 (26 May 1832)
Baptism Date: 11 jun 1832
Baptism Place: Domkirken, Trondheim, Sor Trondelag, Norway
Father: Lars Olsen Dahl
Mother: Gunild Johansdr
FHL Film Number: 126825
Reference ID: 2:1V6QVSW

And the marriage of Lars Olsen Dahl widower and Gunnild Johansdatter in 1833

And a second child

Indianna Birgithe Dahl
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Indianna Birgithe Dahl
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 1 okt 1834 (1 Oct 1834)
Baptism Date: 2 nov 1834
Baptism Place: Domkirken, Trondheim, Sor Trondelag, Norway
Father: Lars Olsen Dahl
Mother: Gundel Johansdr
FHL Film Number: 126825
Reference ID: 2:1V6RGH4

She may have immigrated to America and married an Ole Rostad in Wisconsin. Ancestry links to records for her in Wisconsin.

Ole Sivertsen Dahl married Maren Martha Hammon in 1812. If Lars Olsen Dahl was born in 1803 as his second marriage record indicates then Maren Martha might not have been the mother of Lars
