Helvetia had both Kristiansand and Drammen as home ports, but Kristiansand was "mønstringsdistrikt", which should mean that the sailors were hired in Kristiansand: https://www.sjohistorie.no/no/skip/13597/

William evans born 10 Aug 1883
Had 2 brothers Thomas and david
Thomas had a son named MATHIAS. Is that a Norwegian name? MATHIAS died in Ypres (gunned down)
I have found a baptism for a William evans (illigitamate child to Catherine Evans)
Baptise llanbedr Conwy. 1884

A simple search of the 1900 Norwegian census indicates 3515 males with the given name of Mathias. You can also search several other censuses. There are also several spelling variations which have been seen in Norway for that name.
