Some terms used in Bygdebok for Alenfit do not appear in bokmal nor nynorsk dictionaries. Example: åtte, as used below:

I 1740 kjøpte han parten i Søre Nese av ....og åtte dermed heile bruk.

What does this word translate to, other than 8?

åtte in this case it means owned (nn); he owned the whole farm

I 1740 he bought a part in Søre Nese (Southern Nese) from.... and then he owned the entire farm
