I am stumped. I have been searching for Torbjorn Tarkjelson Tveit b-1859, Bygland,Aust-Agder, Norway - his wife Torbjorg Tellefsdatter Kvinen b- June 6, 1854 Kviplassen, Bygland, Aust-Agder, Norway and their children Eivind Torbjornson Tveit bor Feb 12, 1882 in Bygland, Norway and Torbjorg had a daughter Torbjorg Knutsdatter Hegland bor Sept 18, 1876 in Bygland, Norway. Torbjorn, Torbjorg and son Eivind came to America in 1882. Torbjorg's daughter Torbjorg came in 1900. I think they all died here but I have done many searches and cannot find them anywhere. Are there other ways that I can look for them? Any help would be appreciated. It is like they all disappeared when they got to America.

Yes, that is the information I got from the Bygland Gard og aett - Reidar Vollen vol #1 and 2. It is recorded in there 3 different times. I also had a letter (written to a 2nd cousin - who lived by me) from Reidar Vollen back in the late 90's) with that information in it. I was
fortunate to be able to buy the 7 vol of Reidar Vollen and have them here with me.

Do you have a emigration record for the daughter Torbjorg Knutsdatter Hegland bor Sept 18, 1876. Perhaps if we can find her arrival record it might tell us where she was going. I did not see her emigration record in my first run through Digitalarkivet.

The name in the original record for arrival in New York is Torbjorg Hegeland, transcription is reversed.

Hogeland Torborg
in the New York, Passenger and Crew Lists (including Castle Garden and Ellis Island), 1820-1957

For Edwin I have seen birth place of Norway, Minnesota and Michigan. But here is a mothers last name.

Edwin Norbo
in the California, Death Index, 1940-1997
Name: Edwin Norbo
Social Security #: 567098338
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 5 Oct 1887
Birth Place: Michigan
Death Date: 18 Oct 1960
Death Place: Marin
Mother's Maiden Name: Hegland

But perhaps this is a different one than the one born in Norway and named Evind. Here is another one with birth date close.

Even Norbo
in the U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014
Name: Even Norbo
SSN: 470-16-1616
Last Residence:
56630 Blackduck, Beltrami, Minnesota, USA
Born: 27 Feb 1882
Died: Jun 1971
State (Year) SSN issued: Minnesota (Before 1951)

Even Norbo
in the U.S., Find A Grave Index, 1600s-Current
Name: Even Norbo
Birth Date: 27 Feb 1882
Birth Place: Norway
Death Date: 15 Jun 1971
Death Place: Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States of America
Cemetery: Lakeview Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place: Blackduck, Beltrami County, Minnesota, United States of America
Has Bio?: Y
Mother: Torbjor Norbo

From the FAG website

"Even Norbo may be the son of John Norbo and Torbjor Hagglund Norbo, or a son of Torbjor by a prior marriage in Norway. This is confusing, since John Norbo's father was another Even Norbo. In the 1900 census in which John Norbo is the head, the younger Even is not with the family. Again, Even was born in Norway according to his World War I Draft card and his obituary, among other records. Since John Norbo was born in Wisconsin, it seems unlikely that Even was his son, but that Even came with his mother, Torbjor, from Norway to Wisconsin and was accepted into the new family formed by John's marriage to Torbjor and took the surname "Norbo". The date of this marriage is undetermined, but the 1900 census gives the information that they were married 15 years.

When Even was about 33, he married Hilda S. Bondy Dealma, who had a daughter, Geraldia. Although he and Hilda had no children, Geraldia had a large family with many descendents, many of whom must have been loved by Even as his obituary tells us that he had 9 step-grandchildren and 21 great step-grandchildren."

So this is likely the Elvind born Feb 12, 1882 in the original post by maybellemn. He is called Avan Nosbo here, identified as a stepchild but probably misidentified as a female. and the wife of John Nosbo is likely Torbjorg Tellefsdatter born June 6, 1854 in the original post and now called Torbjor Norgo. Age of Torbjor is off in this census. What became of the first husband Torbjorn Tarkjelson Tveit is still a mystery.

Probably Torbjor in the 1885 Minnesota Census. A little hard to read the original.
