I may have found a relative in a ship manifest.
Olh Janson. Could this be Ole Jensen?
Right age and dates and shipping line add up.
His occupation was listed as Tinker.
Never seen this before.
What does it mean?

English, as in tinker taylor soldier spy, or Norwegian?

What would his employment be that they would write down tinker instead of mechanic.

A ship manifest would have been filled out on board the ship, usually while at sea. Check if you can for the nationalities of the crew.

According to Wikepedia tinker is tinsmith in Norwegian blikkenslager
