Karl Gustaf Johannesen is from Sweden and Karl Karlson is illegitimate.

Single but still alive in 1900 Karl Gustaf Karlsen:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01100021007521

He was married in Cardiff in 1905, so if he was single in 1900 he was probably single in 1902 as well.

With wife Amalie (and matching date of birth) in 1910:

Married to Amalie in 1905:

His marital status is not determined in the marriage record to Amalie in Cardiff. A lot can change in 2-3 years....

One of the newspaper pages linked to earlier mentions both Amalie Berglund and Amandus Karlsen in 1922. In the same list in 1925 only Amalie is mentioned. I think it's a tax list?

No, I was excited for the 1910 census to come out, but the next time I have a record of him is 1920 arrival in US.
Only thing I have for Amalie Berglund is 1908 she had a baby and was still living on Skytebanen.

In the original record for the birth in 1908, there is a comment but I can't read it. Also Karl Karlsen and Emma Karlsen are mentioned.

Amandus was entered in an Arendal Sailors' roll in July 1920. Only one voyage is entered; he left for Barbados in September the same year:

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/35630/188

There is some mention that he had been transferred from an annotation roll. I don't know what that means, but it absolutely common for boys to start their sailor's career before the age of 18.

Family search also suggests this:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLP5-MW33.

The Carl Johansson Trast found in the Census by Tore could be the father of Karl Karlsen, but the Axel is maybe the grandson of Carl Johansson Trast and the son of ? Johansson Trast. Certainly the mother is not Josefina. But the farm is Hudd and the location is Tanum parish.

Axel Teodor Trast
in the Sweden, Indexed Birth Records, 1859-1947
Name: Axel Teodor
[Axel Teodor Trast]
Birth Date: 19 sep 1887
Birth Place: Tanum, Göteborg och Bohus (Västra Götaland), Sverige (Sweden)
Father: Calla Johanna Trast
Mother: Lovisa Mattiasdotter

There is a Jens Karlsen as well, and all three names figure together here in the 1891 census.

Not being particularly well versed in Swedish genealogy this is becoming a real learning experience.

Calle or Kalle or Carl seem to be somewhat the same name. Here is the baptism record for Oskar from the Census posted by Jackie.

Family search also suggests this:

Birth date of Oskar from the Family Search matches this one. Actually twins as it includes Augusta as well.

Oskar Trast
in the Sweden, Indexed Birth Records, 1859-1947
Name: Oskar
[Oskar Trast]
[Oskar Carlsson]
Gender: Man (Male)
Birth Date: 26 jun 1876
Birth Place: Kville, Göteborg och Bohus (Västra Götaland), Sverige (Sweden)
Father: Carl Trast
Mother: Maja Lisa Christiansdotter
Volume: 560

To sum up, as much for my benefit as for the OP.

Fadder at the birth of Amandus Sally in 1902 include Oskar Karlsen and his future wife Olivine.

In the 1910 Norwegian Census is a Oskar Karlsen and his wife Olivine. Oskar was born 1876-07-26 in Sweden.

In the Sweden, Indexed Birth Records, 1859-1947 of Ancestry.com is a Oskar born to Carl Trast and Maja Lisa Christiansdotter on 26 July, 1876
Trast or Trost is not a farm name. The farm is Hud or Hudd located in Tanum parish of Göteborg och Bohus (Västra Götaland), Sverige (Sweden).

There are still some loose ends among them in the Sweden, Household Examination Books, 1880-1930 posted by Jackie the birth date for Oskar is given as 26 June 1867. Probably a minor error.

A little more difficult is to sort out who is mother of all these children of Carl Johansson Trost (Trast).

Lovisa Alexandersdotter in the Household Examination Books date 1900 to 1920. AKA Andreasdotter, Josefina, in 1910.

Lovisa Mattiasdotter in the birth record for Alex in 1887. Could be the same as Lovisa Alexandersdatter?

In the Household Examination Book for 1876 to 1880 wife is Maja Lisa Christiansdotte

Maja Lisa Christiansdotter in the birth record for Oskar in 1876.

It would seem that there is only man be it Carl, Karl, Calle and Trast and Trost and he was born 17 Apr 1847.

A lot of information but still no birth record for Karl born about 1869. Based on the fact that most of the early chidden ie Alfred born in Nov 1871 are listed as having been born in the parish of Kville (Qvulle) I looked for baptism record in Kville. The oldest in the Sweden, Indexed Birth Records, 1859-1947 on Ancestry.com for Kville stop at Sept. 14, 1870.

I vaguely remember in an earlier thread either here or at Brukernes eget forum that mention was made of a fire having destroyed some of the early records for Kville.

Does anyone have any information on those records?
