I am searching for descendants of Anders Einarson Tossen in the Voss area. His son, my great grandfather, Simon Anderson Tossen, immigrated in 1882 from Tysson to Minnesota in the US. His father died when he was 7 yrs old. His mother's name was Brita Simonsdaughter Bindingbo. Simon was the fifth child in a family of six, born July 19, 1866. He had an older brother named Einar. Two older sisters named Ingeberg and Synneva immigrated to the US before him. I plan to visit Tysson in the near future and would like to find relatives in the area. Thanks for any help. Kathy

If it's not just a typing error: Ingeberg should most likely be Ingebjørg (as found in the 1865 census).
The name of the farm is written Thøsen in 1865 and Tyssen in 1900. Today the farm is situated in Evanger, near Voss.

Hello, I am a 18 year old girl who live in Straume, not so far from Tysse.. I am perhaps a relative of yours, I think my mum has talked about the "Tysse-family"! Have you already been to Tysse or what?

Best wishes,
Kristin Straume Normann.

To Kathleen Sigdestad: I have just begun to look up some genealogy on my ancesters from Norway. Today I tried to find the location of the farm/area of my mother's ancesters and imagine my surprise when I typed in Bindingbo and found your request. I believe we may be related! My mother's great grandparents were Anders Einarson Tyssen and Brita Simonsdatter Bindingbo. My mother's grandparents were their daughter, Ingeborg, who married Jon Monson Straume(or Stromme as changed to in the U.S.) My mother's parents were their daughter Bertie Marie who married Albert M. Valsvig. My Stromme grandparents first settled in Minnesota, then Webster in South Dakota and finally near Hilland, South Dakota. Two of Simon's(your great grandfather) sons also lived in this area and were very close to my mother's family. I would enjoy hearing from you!
