Ephesians 2:5, NIV: "made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved."
Ephesians 2:5, NLT: "that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!)" |

Af Naade ere I frelste (danish) Av nåde er dere frelst (norwegian) By grace are you saved (you in plural, saved as in salvation) |

Wonderful message for a marker. I was wondering about the "I" -maybe not the same as "I" in English. Could it be literally - " By grace am I saved"
After her name is the farm name "Sortedahl". This is the name of her descendants - including my grandchildren.
Thanks again for the helpful information. Kay |

No. The danish "I" means you in plural form. The sentence is directly copied from the Bible; Ephesians 2:5. |

Very interesting and good to know! This stone, with place and date of her birth, allowed us to connect the family tree both up and down.
And now we know the rest of the message on the stone. |
