Many from Åsnes went to Black River Falls. I know that he had a brother that went to North America. His name was Arnt Andersen/Anderson.
He maybe went with a ship from Swedish harbour, He is said to have left for North America 16 april 1881. He was born 1848. This is the border area Sweden/Norway. It was closer to a swedish church than a norwegian one. These are forest finns.

The 1885 Wisconsin State Census is a little difficult to get much information from. There is no Syver Andeson found in Jackson County but several S Anderson. They have several family member so might not be your man. I did find a Arnt Anderson with a family of a total of seven. It is possible that Syver could be among the seven.

The seven are five males and two females. Also broken down into 5 Scadinavians and 2 American born.

There are two Sam's and one Simon Anderson but not enough data on them to identify them as candidates.
