I'm wondering if this Finn Vabo (o with slash) is the same man who is/ was a spelemann?

No, Finn Vabø, Spillemannen married Ellen in 1957.

Unni is a third cousin I've never met, I don't know much about her either but even less about Finn.

The names Unni and Finn appear next to each other below the newspaper funeral notices for Unni's parents Johan (in 1985) and Aase (in 1994), so it looks like she stayed married to her Finn Vabø. And Ellen held on to hers, so there must have been two of them.
