Trying to gather information on the family of Erik Hansson Lerum He took the Lerum name in America; it was not the name of the farm he came from however. Erik was the son of Hans Andersen and Kari Hansdatter and was born 1812 in Hillernen, Havreberg, Luster, Sogn og Fjordane, and died in 1891 in Oakland Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota.

He married Johanna Johnsdotter, in approximately 1841 in Lerum, Luster, Sogn og Fjordane. She was the daughter of Jon Torbjornsen and Siri Baardsdatter. She was born 1819 in Runen, Lerum, Luster County, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, and died in 1883 in Oakland Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota.

Erik and Johanna are my 3rd Great Grandparents.

Based on the probate record it would seem that Jon Torbjørnsen died in 1824.

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/327/pv00000010017025

His wife Siri Baardsdatter remarried quite quickly

1870 US Census

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MN9H-WJ3

1880 US Census

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZ9W-Q91

Tree

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/LCR5-QQ9

Note, the tree lists the mother of Erik Larsen Lerum as Kari Hansdatter. That is likely incorrect. Both the confirmation and marriage record give her name as Kari Olsdatter.

I would be careful with the Norwegian part of this tree until you have checked it with the original sources or a bygdebok reference.

Here is some information on Eric Hansen Lerum

Nr. 19

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070514610310

Other chidren of Hans Andersen and Kari Olsdatter

For the baptism of son Ole the mother is also Kari Olsdatter, farm is Høyemsvig

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000008761020

Baptism of Anders in 1809. Father is incorrectly called Anders but corrected to Hans. Mother is Kari Olsdatter

Left page Nr. ? 20

Marriage of Eric in 1841

Family in 1865 Census

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01038261001822

A little difficult to pin down who are the parents of Kari Olsdatter mother of Eric Hansen Lerum.

The 1815 Census for Luster indicates an age for Kari Olsdatter as 39, birth year about 1776.

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01051099000655

The marriage record shows Hans Andersen from Høyemsvig and Kari Olsdatter from Krogen.

Gards- og ættesoge for Luster kommune, Vol 3 (author Lars E. Øyane), p. 227 (access for Norwegian IP-addresses) confirms this identification. It also has his wife as an Olsdatter.
