Could this be him also? Found in the Alberta, Canada, Homestead Records, 1870-1930
Name: James Fredrickson Gender: Male Birth Country: Norway Application Date: 11 Jul 1912 Homestead Place: Alberta, Canada Residence Year: 1912 Residence Place: Bounty, Saskatchewan, Canada File Number: 2745382 Coordinates: SE Section: 34 Township: 23 Range: 6 Meridian: 4
Not transcribed from the handwritten document is the information that he was born in Bergen. (Which probably should be taken to mean "in or near Bergen".)
Edit: Maybe not very likely, given the distance. Also, wouldn't an adopted son automatically become a Canadian citizen, which the homestead applicant wasn't? |

Doesn't it say adopted son -- fils adoptif
If he actually came in 1899, he should also be in the 1901 census. His occupation is transcribed as Narigateur but might it not be Navigateur instead?
If he was a sea faring man, maybe this is he in 1901 (also ripples on the details): Name: John Frederickson Gender: Male Racial or Tribal Origin: German Nationality: Canadian Marital status: Single Age: 18 Birth Date: 10 Sep 1883 Birth Place: Norway Immigration Year: 1897 Religion: Irvingite Occupation: Seaman Hourly Wage: 240 Months Employed Other: 12 Can Read: Yes Can Write: Yes Can Speak English: Yes Province: Nova Scotia District: Halifax (City/Cité) District Number: 33 Sub-District: Halifax (City/Cité) Ward/Quartier No 1 Sub-District Number: 2 Family Number: 325 |
