| John Christenson was my great-grandfather and the story she was told is that he was the youngest child in a large family in the shipping industry. Knowing he would not inherit anything he stowed away on a family ship to immigrate to the US. According to a 1910 Census his immigration year was 1895 and he was 38 years old. He married Anna Nordstrom in 1902 in Chicago, Illinois, USA and had 4 children. He died in 1914 when my grandmother was only 4. I only have 1 picture of him and can't find any information on his family. If anyone had any information or could stear me in the right direction I would really appreciate it! |

A variance on age in their marriage record, John listed as 30 in 1902:
"Illinois, Cook County Marriages, 1871-1968", , FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N74Z-9XB : Tue Jul 23 17:42:19 UTC 2024), Entry for John Christenson and Annie Nordstrom, 11 Oct 1902.
And a sketchy family tree:

Includes children named Olive Capitola, Victoria Augusta, Beatrice Anna, & Warren John. the last 3 are triplets. Are these the names you know?
John himself is assigned a birthplace of Sweden in 1910, and in some of the other records and in one case Goteborg, Sweden not Norway. So the migration records I first posted will not be your man. |

Yes, Victoria (one of the triplets) was my grandmother. I know her father was born in Sweden, but I found his name on a passenger on the ship Ariosto in 1898. When I was searching the history of that ship I came across this site and was hoping I might find the family name somehow. Thanks for trying to help!

Denver Colorado The News Friday 12 July 1912 page 3 col 5 as part of article about a local baby contest:
"Prettiest Triplets
Victoria, Warren, Beatrice Christenson 2 1/2 years, Mr and Mrs John Christenson, 5105 West 38th Avenue."
Denver Colorado The News Monday 20 July 1914 page 2 col 5 from article titled "Deaths and Funeral Notices by Olinger Mortuary"
"Christenson, John late of 3426 Scott place. Funeral services to be held from Olinger chapel today at 2:30 p.m. Interment at Crown Hill."
The Denver Post Monday 20 July 1914 page 11 col 1: exact same message as in The News except the house number is given as "3128."
The News, Tuesday 21 July 1914 page 7 col 2 in an article titled "Burial Permits"
"Christenson, John, 35, 3428 Scott place."
There was also a series of bigger articles published in 1912 about a charitable gift given by Mr.Loeb of $5.00 to needy and the John Christenson family was one of the recipients. In the article it said John Christenson got sick in Chicago and had to move to Colorado for the better climate to maybe cure him. He suffers from tuberculosis. There is a picture of the triplets but all four children are mentioned as well as Mrs. Christenson.
