Greetings, all!
We are encountering a great deal of difficulty locating passenger information for Anna or Anne Kristina Aanendatter Helland Hausken/Hauskje and children, after the death of her husband Ole Hanson Romshaug: Hans Olsen/Olson, Berthe, Marthe, Anna Olava, Aanen Owen, Andreas, Christopher, Anne Kristine Olsen/Olson, Ole Olsen/Olson Hausken, Zakius "Samuel" Olsen/Olson, Anna Maria, and Jorgen. We know they left Norway - according to a parish record - on April the 6th 1881. But that's where the trail seems to go cold. I have searched the Canadian records, Massachusetts Archives, as well as Ellis Island database. I cannot find them. Can someone help? We would be SO grateful!

Welcome to the site!

What parish did they leave from?

If this tree is true, Rennesøy. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/K6W8-VYZ

Have you looked for 1st papers of naturalization records for any of the siblings?

The declarations of intention of the era of their arrival typically contains a port and an approximate date of their arrival. Here is basic information of (it doesn't specify which 1st or 2nd papers) Aanon:

You are able to order whichever it is from this site: https://www.ironrangeresearchcenter.org/details/7/533498/

Naturalization Record
First Name: OWEN OLSON
Last Name: HAUSKINS
Location: STEVENS

To satisfy 1862 homestead law requirements, all that was required was the 1st papers be filed and Owen also took an original entry homestead in Stevens county Minnesota and the paper was also filed with the homestead. The homestead packet is available for order from the National Archives (its spendy) Go to glorecords.blm.gov and search the patent there and also use the mapping service, the 113 acres were close to Donnelly Minnesota :

Just a coincidence that one (captain) Oluf Hausken was married i Newcastle (a common transit city on the way to America) later in April 1881?

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/327/pv00000006968963

Below is a Geni-profile for the groom. Probably no connection. (??)

https://www.geni.com/people/Oluf-Bertinius-Christian-Housken/6000000012765343838

But note that the spelling Housken should also be looked for.

Does the parish record say that all these people left in 1881? The Familysearch tree that Jackie found suggests that two of the older children married in America already in 1878.

Indeed I do not see Hans or Berthe on the parish emigration list in 1881: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070104310102 (More people on the next page.)

from Story county Iowa usgenweb site:

From the Roland Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, August 21, 1924.

HANS HAUSKEN PASSED AWAY

IS VICTIM OF HEART FAILURE FUNERAL HELD THIS AFTERNOON

People in the community were shocked Monday morning to her that Hans O. Hausken had passed away early that morning, at his place three and a half miles southeast of Roland. Although Mr. Hausken had not been feeling very well for some time, he had been up and around, and had been visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. M. Malohn, near Nevada, the day before. It had been noticed during that day that he was very pale and did not seem to feel as well as usual and at one o'clock that night he became very ill and passed away at five o'clock Monday morning, the cause of his death being heart failure.

Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon, from Salem church, Rev. J. N. Sandven officiating, many of his friends and relatives being present to pay their last respects to the departed. The pall bearers were old neighbors, being Iver Sampson, Ole Hanson, Odne Howen, Nels T. Wicks, J. J. Hoversten, and T. A. Sorem. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.

Hans Hausken was born in Norway on January 26, 1854, and died August 18, 1924, at the age of 70 years, 6 months, and 22 days. He came to this country in April, 1874, going first to Stevens county Minn., where he remained for four years. He came to this community in 1878 and lived here for 47 years. On December 13, 1874 he was united in marriage to Sarah Gunderson Dalen, to which union nine children were born, one of which died in infancy. Three others, Mrs. martin Selvog, Mrs. Frank Webster and Mrs. Millard Lawrence, have also passed to the Great Beyond. Those living, who with their mother are left to mourn the departed, are Mrs. Knute Stensland, Lamberton, Minn.; Mrs. W. M. Malohn, Mrs. Fred Larson, Mrs. J. P. Larson of near Nevada; and Ole Hausken, living near Garden City. Mr. Hausken was of a large family, there being 13 brothers and sisters in the family, several of whom preceded him in death.

And for his wife:

Obituary source: The Roland Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, January 23, 1935 transcribed by Dena Gray-Fisher

"MRS. HAUSKEN FUNERAL HELD

AGED RESIDENT HAD LIVED IN COMMUNITY OVER SIXTY YEARS

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Hans Hausken at the residence and at Salem Lutheran church, Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery.

The pall bearers were Oscar I. Sampson, A. J. Shold, Ed Sampson, Adolph Eggland, R. M. Peck and O.I. Eggland. Mrs. T. A. Sorem sang a solo at the residence and also at the church, Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Boyd sang a duet at the church service.

Mrs. Siri Hausken (nee Dalen) was born in Fjeldberg parish, Sondhordland, Norway, September 20, 1853, and died at her home in Roland, Monday, January 14, 1935, at 8 o'clock in the evening, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 24 days.

She came to America in 1872 and has been living in Story county since that time. She was married to Hans Hausken December 13, 1878, by Rev. Eistensen. They lived on a farm southeast of Roland for many years and when her husband died Mrs. Hausken moved to Roland, where she has since resided.

Nine children were born to this union, four of whom have preceded their mother in death. A boy died in infancy; Mrs. Martin Selvog died May 8, 1907; Mrs. Frank Webster died July 15, 1907, and Mrs. Millard Lawrence died June 25, 1908. The husband died August 18, 1924.

Mrs. Hausken is survived by four daughters and one son, Mrs. Will Melohn of Nevada, Mrs. Knut Stensland of Roland, Mrs. Fred Larson and Mrs. Pete Larson of Nevada, and Ole Hausken of near McCallsburg. She also leaves a sister in Norway."

Anton - YES! That's them!!! Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!!

To someone's earlier question regarding whether Hans and Bertha arrived in the States earlier, yes. But I couldn't find expatriation records for them. Though I hadn't looked quite has hard for that as I had for Anna and Sokus/Sakeus/Samuel (my husband's great great grandfather).

I am so grateful to all of you! What an incredible community!!!

Warmly,
Jeremy and Marissa
