Sometimes there are little ripples in the family stories. In the story about Lars and Sigrid in the Nelson county history book it says this:

"One of her brothers (meaning of Lars' wife, Sigrid Vole) died enroute and was buried at sea. One sister went to Chicago to find work and was never heard from again. ..."

In the Lom book in the story on her family, Sigrid is listed as one among six siblings, none of whom was male. And the book lists that information from the Nelson county book, even though there are no brothers on the list. So I wonder whose brother and whose sister did these actually happen to?

Interesting point; perhaps the chronicler mistook Lars' sister for a sister-in-law.

A sister of Sigrid who didn't disappear (as she is buried at Lom Lutheran Cemetary at Petersburg) is Marit, with this Geni-profile. Geni doesn't provide a husband for her, but according to FAG she was married to Lars the younger: Link

A good discussion of Ole Rasmussen and his family is discussed in the FAG for Ole. According to this he had five children and all of them daughters. Two married the two Lars Toresen Borgen brothers that would be Marit and Sigrid and one Live died in 1871 in Low and one Ronnoaug died in 1909 in Nelson North Dakota The FAG story includes a Anne born in 1847 who married a Joe Tohmpson from Nelson North Dakota and the FAG leaves out an Annie that is found in a Tree on Ancestry.who was born in and died in 1843.

Probably the emigration of Ole Rasmussen Wole and his wife and one daughter in 1873. The destination is Winona Minnesota. Ship is the Pontocorvo?

In the read more portion written by a Rachelle Humble of his FAG memorial the five daughters who survived to adulthood all seem to be accounted for and none mentioned as missing in Chicago. Curioser and curioser.

In an article published in the Vernon County Censor on 24 January 1917 page 9 col 3 titled "See Country, Visit Folks; Two tragic accidents, Resulting Deaths--Former Vernonites" written by Ole T Trastad states: "My wife and I were called to North Dakota to attend a cousin's funeral and while there made a visit to all our relatives, nine cousins, all married and have families and nice homes and big farms. Also two aunts one of them being Mrs. Elef Hegge living 10 miles from Lawton....We visited Mrs. Lars Borgen who is 80 years old and in fairly good health....."

Must be Marit.

Likely the Ole J Trastad, many ancestors from Lom:
