The obituary for Kristianne Botten states that she was born in Naustdal, Sondfjord, Norway on March 8, 1858,she emigrated to the US on 14 June 1882, and was survived by 4 sisters in Norway when she died 25 Aug. 1934. Her husband's obituary makes reference to her name having been Kristina Madson. In the digital archives I have not been able to find a baptism record for her, would Sogn and Fjordane be the correct place to be looking? I have also been unable to find an emigration record from Bergen harbor, does anyone know if she may likely have left from another harbor? Would Furevig likely be the farm name of her family, and her father's name likely be Mads.? I would like to find out if she has some relatives still living in Norway.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Vickie

Thanks! It sure looks like it must be "my" Kristianne's family, her age matches, and there are the 4 sisters as mentioned in her obituary. "My" Kristianne married Ludvig Peder Henrik Simonsen (known as Ludvig Botten in the US) in Minnesota 14 Nov. 1891. Ludvig was my great great uncle, and when my grandpa emigrated in 1904 he lived with and worked for Ludvig on his farm near Sedan, MN. Now I'll be better able to search for descendents of Kristianne's sisters. Thanks again.
