I am a descendent of eric ericksen who emmigrated to New Zealand. I found his name on the ship Argonaut on one passenger list but it is not on the passenger list submitted by this site. This was for the year 1866. His identification number was 423.
Can I presume this information is incorrect.
On the first list I sighted his name was above Ole Ericksens' name and his age was 25.
There was another Eric listed also, however his name was spelt Erick Ericksen.

Hi

It is a little hard to answer your question with so little information to go on. The name Erick Ericksen (Erik Eriksen) is, and was, a quite common name in Scandinavia (means Erik; son of Erik). Just finding that name on a passenger list does not prove that it is actually the right person.

Also the Argonaut on this site has a destination of Quebec Canada. Did he go there first before New Zealand. If not you will have to look for ships with a destination of New Zealand. Do you know for sure his emigration year was 1866?

Hi Kymm,
I noticed your post last night and know it is some 9 years ago but see it didn't give you the answer you were looking for.
Erik was my great grand father, my grandfather being Emil.
Erik and Gunda arrived in Napier NZ mid Jan 1880 aboard the ship Eastminster departed Plymouth 25 Oct 1879. With them was Anna shown as 5, Olivia 4, and Anton 2. He was shown as a baker from Sweden which could explain why they can't be found in the 1875 Norwegian census.
The Reason there was so much trouble tracking this down was his first name was spelt Erich not Erik and he was using his patronymic surname of Olsen
My father remembers meeting him when he was young but said he was not friendly and an alcoholic, I will ask him if he remembers any more
