Since this is such a great site to ask this question, here goes: can anyone provide (or point to) a photo or illustration of the 'SS Quebec' (ship of the 'Dominion' line)?
I have lots of textual info on the ship itself -- just not anything visual.
It is the ship that brought my surname ancestors to Canada. While photos are available for a lot of other ships, this one has been extremely elusive!
Please help if you can -- this may be the last place that I might be able to finally receive sucess! |

Have you checked out the Ellis Island website? http://stevemorse.org/ellis/pictures.html?default=EllisIsland They have a photographic listing for a ship named Quebec, it may not be the same ship.
Also, the Steamship Historical Society located at the University of Baltimore does a search for a nominal fee. They do not list the Quebec listed in the Photographic collection but that is only a partial index. Can't make the link work but just go into Google and type in Baltimore Steamship Historical Society and it will direct you to the home page.

Hi, What about this picture...
The picture was found here. It's a picture of the ship City of Dublin, which according to TheShipsList.com is the same ship.
It was launched as "City of Dublin" in 1864, renamed Quebec in 1874 and finally renamed Nautique in 1888. She was abandoned and lost in the North Atlantic in 1890.

Thanks to both of you for your replies! :)
1) The Ellis Island picture does not appear to be the SS Quebec that I am looking for (the description does not match the picture)
2) The ShipsList picture is, I think, a mistake. Someone that I know that has access to the book that has that illustration pointed out to me that it actually belongs to the 'SS City of Boston', and NOT the 'SS Quebec'. I believe that I had pointed that out to Don Haseldine at one point, but this 'mistake' (at least as I perceive it) continues. Now, the description for the 'SS Quebec' matches quite closely to the illustration so maybe it is no big issue, but I continue to search for a 'true' photo/illustration of the ship :)
It would be nice if someone else could confirm the Quebec/Boston illustration mixup.

It would be greate if you could consider sharing the image by uploading it to our Image Gallery. |

I have finally located an illustration of the 'SS Quebec', in case anyone is interested. I contacted a few people on this site about this (for the possibility of adding it), but -- so far -- no replies. |

Oh, OK, I have no idea what the 'legal' issues of this are -- for me the issue is just being able to finally find an illustration. I have uploaded an 1869 image (painting) of the 'City of Dublin' (Inman Line), which was eventually renamed as 'Quebec' after it was sold to the 'Dominion Line'. Hopefully it will be of use to others!
I have included a link to the website that I found it on. Is this all OK? |

Yes, for the fun of it, over the years I have scraped little 'tidbits' of info re: the SS Quebec from the web, and added them to my genealogy page. The 'Ship SS Quebec' link at the top of this page will take anyone to that section of my web page with this info:
http://darethehair.no-ip.org/dmenns3/genealogy.html
It even includes some tiny images of 'china' collections with the emblem of the 'Dominion Line' on them -- even though the original webpage I got them from are long since gone away... |

Thanks! I didn't think anyone would be interested in my 'genealogy' page, but there is a fairly large section of information on the 'SS Quebec' on that page :) |
