- a modest statement Jan Peter, but John Martin must have been an inventive person - father millwright Charles Furgerson = sailor Therkild Aavaldsen, (July 1 1856) - parents master carpenter Aavald Therkildsen and Aase Olette Guttormsdatter.

Marriage record #6, March 26th, 1886
Gunder Mikalsen, born Tørdal b. 01-Apr-1849 & Johanne Gurine Gundersdatter Stølestrand born Hampemyr 1856
His father: worker Mikal Taraldsen
Her father: Sailor Gunder Halvorsen
Source information: Telemark county, Skåtøy in Skåtøy, Parish register (official) nr. I 3 (1884-1899), Marriage records 1886, page 90.

Here is Johan in census-1900 with mother and step father!
Temporary residence reads Buenos Aires, Argentina! Occupation: sailor on sailship.

7 half-siblings on the farm, plus what looks to be a son of his stepfather before he married hanna; Albert Gundersen b. 1878.
The unnamed girl in Census-1900 was christened Gunda Jørgine. (a mismatch on the date of birth..)

Census-1900 shows the family on the Muldfjeld farm [under Stensund main farm] in Skaatø township.
Below you can see the location of the farm. It was located at the inlet Steinsund on the Tåtøy island outside Kragerø.

The island Tåtøy looks to be inhabited with vacation properties as of today, so the farm are most likely long gone.

The Skerries at Kragerø consist of approximately 500 islands, holms and islets, and is a popular area for vacation.

I've been looking for her, but haven't found any traces yet.

Norwegian census-1910 will be available online for the public in 76 days, so she should be found by latest then...

Could those sisters have lived in the US?
I wonder if the seaman Terkel Aavaldsen ["charles ferguson"] emigrated to America and started a family over there, and that Olga and Mary Louise was born there? Just a thought...

I have not found any traces of Terkel Aavaldsen in Norway after the christening of his son in 1884...

You must be a little patient. The 1910-census will be public in 60 days.
That means you should be able to speak to your Norwegian cousins before christmas...
