On 8th of may 1907, Henrik Hansen Brustad emigrated from Kristiansund N. As far as I know, he sailed with SS Tasso, route Trondheim – Kristiansund – Ålesund – Bergen – Stavanger – Hull.

According to ”Digitalarkivet: Emigrants from Kristiansund 1882-1930” his destination was Indiana.

Henrik Hansen Brustad was born 1882 in Averøy/Bremsnes., He was the youngest of four children. His father was Hans Olsen Brustad, born 1848 in Ytterøyen og his mother was Kari Olsdatter, born 1841 in Skjåk.

I have tried to find him, but this is the only information I know about him. Can anybody please help me further?

Hi In the 1910 census he is single living in Chicago, Illinois
BRUDSTAD HENRIK 37 M W NORW IL COOK 27-WD CHICAGO
the age saya 37 but looking at the actual record it could be 27 and the immigration year is 1907

There is also a Henry H Brustad listed in the Washington state death index, died 1942. Unfortunately it is at Ancestry and I don't have a subscription so can't see his birthdate. Maybe someone else can look it up.

If you could get a copy of the death certificate, that could give you some information or if there is an obiturary for him that too could give you lots of information.
I would suggest joining the Norway L mailing list
Click Here and sending them a query. The list has lots of helpful people and someone might be able to do a lookup for you. At the website click on help in the upper left hand corner and read about mailing lists before joining since they are a little different from regular message boards.
Or you could try posting a query on the debate forum at the Digialarkivet.

My father's name was Henry Brustad but he took the name of his stepfather, Thorvald Wilhelm Olsen Brustad when he got his citizenship. Thorvald came to Hamilton, NY in 1907 and married my grandmother, Laura Larsen, after she came in 1917. They both lived in Kristiania. Dad was Alfred Henry Emmanuel Halvorsen, born to Laura out of wedlock in 1897. I don't know if your relative is any relation to Thorvald.

Hi Stig,

FYI, the Washington state secretary of state website death index search gives the 1942 entry the full name of Henry Hansen Brustad.
His d.c. can be viewed:

http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/JpegConvert.aspx?DOID=D25C4373ACF3C499BE52A7EEC5C75528&PN=1

And if this doesn't work, redo the search at:
www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Search.aspx

Things have changed since 2008. The actual death certs are no longer viewable at the Washington site, just the transcription.
