Holver Syvert Nelson born June 4, 1846 in Nes, Romerike, Norway where he spent his boyhood days. Worked in Kristiania 4 years before coming to USA in 1870. Was in Conneticut for short time, moving in the fall of 1870 to St. Paul, MN.

Sister, Karen Nelson born March 30 1841 also came to USA, but was married Feb 17, 1870 in MN, so must have come before Holver. (She was 7 month pregnant with another mans child at time of wedding)

Brother, V. J. Nilsen was living in Kristiana, Norway at the time of Holvers death on March 5, 1913.

Holver and his sister Karen with her husband Andray Johnson are living together in Minnesota on the 1880 census.

I am trying to find, a. Naturalization records, b. Ships passenger list, and c. Census or similar records of the family in Norway.

If you look in the 1865 Norwegian census database for Nes in Akershus - there does appear a Halvor Neilsen, 20 yrs old, and two Karen Niels about 4 to 5 yrs old than Halvor (but one of those two is already married so I'm not listing that entry here.)
