Which Tangen? When? Did these persons live in the 1700s, 1800s, 1900s? Did they stay in Norway or did they emigrate? If they emigrated, when did they do so?
How reliable is the source for the spelling of the names? Are names of other family members available?

It is very difficult to search for records for persons if you have no idea when when they were born, if and when they left Norway and when they died? How do we determine which records could be searched for possibilities?

This is a big shot, but there is a Hansine Bendtsen Tangen b. 1850 in Risør (census 1865) living together with her mother and tre sisters in Tangen ,Risør. Her mother is only called !!Bends.* and a widow born 1812 in Porsgrund.

Jens Jensen was from Tangen, as was his samboer Hansine Bensen (I think!) .
These names my grandfather wrote on his marriage licence. My grandfather was Arthur Oskar Johan Jensen born in 1875 in Tangen. He emigrated in 1904 to New York and was a lighthouse keeper until 1946. I would like to know more about his parents....
Takk på forand.
