On notes of my ancestors I have come across a phrase which I would like clarified. Here is an example of it for one couple:

Aslak Midtbo and Gunnhild Sigurdstaul;
Marriage: 1874, They came to on Hatveit

Does the phrase "They came to on Hatveit" mean that is where they were married???

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

What was the source of this phrase?
It sounds like a one word at a time translation from another language - without the proper grammar.
Check the parish records for the engagement/marriage in 1874+- that will probably record where each was living.

My first assumption would have been that it meant - they married in 1874 and came to Hatveit.
