Hello to everyone in this forum. New to this website, but have been looking up information about my Norwegian heritage - Lier Norway to Leer Michigan. In August of this year I went to the Leer Lutheran Church for the 125 anniversary of the church. I have a cemetery history book with pictures of some families.

I am currently looking for more information about the Andersen/Anderson families.

My Great Great Grandfather is Jakob Anderson born May 5 1836 in Hole, Hurumeie. He married Marta Larsdatter Larsen who was born June 11, 1846 in Kirkerrud. Jakob was illegitimate, but is father was Anders Johanneseen from Hole, Hurumeie and Mari Johnsdatter, born 1792 on Hurum Farms. I am trying to find out if Anders and Marie ever got married (or if they married other people) I also want to know if there are siblings to Jakob. I would also like to know how, if I can go further back . I have been using the Digitalarkivet as much as possible, but of course I can not read Norwegian. I have purchased a dictionary, but it is very limited on translation not to mention the time it takes to look up words. Is there a good website for translating Norwegian to English.

The other side of the family also came from Norway. Last Name could have been spelled 3 different ways. Vang, Wang, Wong. First names are Soren 1844 immigrated from Ofoten on the Lofoten Island and Amelia (no last name). Soren and Amelia immigrated to Leer Michigan as well. Their daughter Constance married my Great Grandfather Carl Anderson son of Jakob and Marta Anderson.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How is your inquiry related to the earlier thread of questions that you've added it to?

Leer Michigan is such a small community that there is a possibility most of us are all related. As I was reading through, I thought that maybe I could help some of the others with Michigan relative. I have both a cemetery history book and a confirmation book from 1875 - 2006 that was put together by church members. I suppose I could have started a new forum for my family, but I am new to this and was not sure.

Still would like to find more information about Jakob and Marta (Mathea) Anderson from the Norwegian history records.

I found out how the forum is related to me. Otter Olsen, (son of Ole Ottersen and Andrina Olsen) had a second wife Annette Anderson who died of TB. Annette and Otter had two children, Oscar and Alta. Alta married, my great great uncle Jorgen Anderson, who is the son of Jakob and Marta (Mathea) Anderson. I knew there was a correlation somewhere, just had to dig for it.
