There are farms by the names of Smehaugen and Ringelien both in the district of Land, Oppland, Norway. There was an Ole Olsen on a Smedhaugen farm in Aurland, Sogn og Fjordane and an Ole Olsen on Smehagan farm in Ullensaker at the time of the 1865 census. In the 1875 census three other areas appear likely, and in the 1900 Norwegian census one appears in Sondre Land, Oppland.
Don't you have any information about what time period you expect a search to locate the correct Ole Olson? When was he born? When did he leave Norway? Do you have names and ages for any others of the family? |

Hmmm... where did you look?
Most people from her area emigrated from the Oslo/Kristiania harbour, and she is listed among the Emigrants from Oslo 1867-1930, link
Destination reads Boston, so you'll have to look there to find her immigration recods. Prob. around the 25th of November, 1904.

Recommend you read some of the articles and information on this site, there are no passenger lists for the Angelo. It was a feeder ship that took passengers from Norway to Hull, England, by train to Liverpool to board the final ship to North America.
That said, she arrived from Liverpool leaving on November 15, 1904, arriving at the Port of Boston on November 23, 1904 aboard the SS Ivernia. Name Olga Olson, 17, servant, going to uncle Edw. Johannsen in Stoddard, WI.
You can rent the microfilm passenger list at a local Family History Center or access the Ancestry.com Immigration database at many major libraries or Family History Centers.
There is much information and a postcard painting of the Ivervia on Norway Heritage.

I did find some information on Ole Syvertsen, I believe that he and his wife Beate Johansdatter are buried in Skute Cemt. Unsure of what year? Also cannot find out about some of their children- Ingebor b 1875, Kristine, Johan 1881, Ole, 1883 alfred 1887 (I beleive he went by the name Smedhaugen) Bertha Michaelson, 1893 Emma 1889 And Anton 1891 I am also told there was a Marie, but have never heard the name before.
Please help |
