I usually do a pretty good job finding people in the online census database, but this family really has me stumped. I can't figure out what happened to them. I'd appreciate the help if anyone has the time to help me look. Here's what I know.

Dal farm, Tysvær, Rogaland:
Sjur Knutsen gm Ragbhild Olsdt budde her i 1820-30 ara
a) Ole b. 1825
b) Knut b. 1831
c) Guro Kristine b. 1834
d) Brita Serine b. 1837.

On 22 JUN 1848, the family reported moving to Time. Listed are Sjur Knudsen, 70; Ragnille Olsdatter, 49; Guri Christine, baptized 1 JUN 1834; and Brithe Serine, baptized 23 JUL 1837. NOTE: Knud stayed behind, but moved to Finnaas in 1853, then emigrated to America about 1861. Not sure what happened to Ole.

I realize that Sjur would likely have died before 1865, but Ragnille was much younger. But I can't find either her or the girls in 1865 and I'm not sure how else to figure out the farm they moved to in Time.

Thanks so much!

Where did this information come from? Where is Time and Finnaas. In Rogaland?

Sorry for the incomplete information. I believe Time and Finnaas are both in Hordaland. The info about Dal farm is from the Tysvær bygdebøk and the info about where the family moved is from parish records.

Thanks,
Sara

Time is in Rogaland, south of Stavanger.

I think I have found that Guri Kristine 1867 married in Utsira parish, and that Ole perhaps is on Bustø in Tysvær in 1865 census.

From LDS IGI church records:

Perhaps this is your Ole Sjursen, when he is listed as 41, he should be born 1825:
Bustø 1865

Harald: Thank you so much! I believe this is the correct Guro Kristine. It's frustrating that I can't find her in the census, but everything else seems to indicate this is a very solid lead. I'll try to find her marriage record in the kirkebøker to see if it has more details about her parents to confirm this is the right girl.

You've also found a strong lead for Ole. I think I'd found this one before, but I found that Oline Olsdatter was too old to be the same as Ragnille Olsdatter -- but now I see that Oline was his wife's mother, so I will also see if I can find a church record to help verify this connection.

I can't get the "emigrant 1898" link to work. Did you find that Ane Ragnilde emigrated to America?

About the LDS IGI records you found -- are those online somewhere?

Thanks,
Sara

I'll make a new try with the link 1898 emigrant

The text was:
9705 Stavanger 1898 D0617 KB FOR UTSIRA Anne Ragnhilde Berthea Vegner Danielsen K 1874 1898 Utsira NORGE 1 R

The source of this information should be Utsira church records (utflyttede)

The Familysearch records are online. The church records are usually correct, the "submitted" records may give more information, but they are like bygdebooks, some times they have got something wrong.

Utsira 1868 Tysvær 1834

Wow, thank you again. The new links do work. Thanks for the tip on Brita Serine too. I searched the 1875 records and found a woman in Haugesund, born in Tysvær, named Berthe Sjursdatter. She is likely the same woman you found -- with a very different spelling -- in 1865. You were much more creative with spelling variations than I had been, as well as extending your search to different locations. I was putting too much stock in the notion that the family had moved to Time.

I'm glad I asked for help. Thanks so much for taking the time to search for me.
