JoAnn, Thanks for the suggestion, but the ship arrived 3-18-1890 before Ellis Island on-line records and the only Werra manifest on the website is for 1892. So I am still looking for a passenger list from the 1890 arrival. Thanks, anyway!

Ellis Island wasn't opened until 1892 - earlier New York arrivals would have been through Castle Garden or the Barge Office.

You could consult US National Archives or LDS Family History Library microfilms.

Here is the free Castle Garden website but it is not quite complete and does not link to the actual passenger manifest:

The NY passenger microfilm for March 18, 1890 is #1027780 and can be rented at a local Family History Center.

Castle Garden closed on April 18, 1890 and until the Ellis Island Immigration Station opened in 1892, all passengers were processed at the Barge Office in New York Harbor. Here is a good site for Castle Garden information:
