Looking for relatives and any info on my Great Great Uncles (Christian Skredsvig) family. He was the famous Norwegian Painter. His sister, Regine Erickson b 1854, is my great grandmother from Modum, Buskerud, Norway. She and her husband Jorgen Sonsteby (George BYE) came to the US in 1901 aboard the USS Tunisian.

What type of relatives do you seek? Ancestors? Living relatives? When you say 'any info' - that is broad and general - what specific information are you looking for?

Christian is included this family tree file online -
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2726604&id=I549859940

Previous information searched out for one of your queries on other websites (there seems no need to ask for people to do duplicate research) -
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/message/rw/localities.scan-balt.norway.counties.buskerud/862

If you are looking for ancestral information the best research methodology is to consult the area's parish records, any published bygdeboker, etc.

This seems to be the family in the 1865 census:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60623&gardpostnr=289&personpostnr=1403&merk=1403#ovre

Here is Christian in the 1900 census:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f00621&gardpostnr=600&personpostnr=3575&merk=3575#ovre

Here is Jørgen & Regine in the 1900 census in Modum, Regine born 1861 which ties in with the 1865 census:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f00623&gardpostnr=827&personpostnr=5033&merk=5033#ovre

Some of the Sigdal and Modum parish records are available on line, the earliest Sigdal is 1860 but it may have Christian’s and Regine’s marriage record as well as children’s birth records:

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_fylke=6&idx_kilde=Alle&idx_periode=&idx_textsearch=&js=j

Other Sigdal parish records are available on microfilm through a local Family History Center, you have a lot of information on family from the 1865 and 1900 census:

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=270626&disp=Kirkeb%C3%B8ker++

There is a look up volunteer for Sigdal & Eggedal that could provide more information on the family:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~norway/lookups.html#Dunn

This should keep you busy for awhile.

Thank you Jo Ann and Hopkins for your reply. I am new to this board so hope this is how you reply to it. I did ask for help on Rootsweb, however, not many answers. I will be more specific next time.
JoAnn, thank you for all the wonderful info. I did not know about the birth, marriage, etc records website! I am in the process of looking up my great grandmother and family.
