I have this information :

"And Kong Bjørn sailed from Christiania (Oslo) to America in 1880."

If I look on the specifications for this ship and study the schedules it seems this was a "feeder" ship with regular trips to Hamburg where the passengers changed ships ... So my question would be:
Did Kong Bjørn ever cross the Atlantic?

There is no information on this page indicating that it travelled across the Atlantic.

I would guess that the information written here, about the America journey is incomplete, that the passenger had to change ship in Hamburg.

However, it also says that "The information listed above is not the complete record of the ship. The information was collected from a multitude of sources, and new information will be added as it emerges"

In this document http://www.skipet.no/1918.pdf, it says that the ship ran aground at Phare de la Banche while travelling Le Havre – Nantes with general cargo.

1918: 06.12.: Grunnstøtte ved Phare de la Banche på reise Le Havre – Nantes med stykkgods..

TP 10.04.1886. Så vidt vites det første dampskip som er opplyst med elektrisk lys. Ref. Teknisk Ukeblad. link (Kong Bjørn was the first steam ship with electric lighting.)

Something to add to the page, Borge?

Yes, it is correct to say that the S/S Kong Bjørn never crossed the Atlantic with emigrants from Norway.

What I ment was that maybe the information that the ship ran aground in 1918, and that it [in 1886] was the first steamer with electric lightning could be added to this page...
