Here is tid bit of news I grew up with. My grandfather Hans (Larimor, ND was the actual town), was a sloppy writer and his "I" in Smilden was sloppy and never dotted and was mistaken for an "E" giving us Smelden. I was there in 1971. And there really is a little red school house that my dad and Harold Sr. attended along w/Norm. I have a lot of nice childhood stories about Harold and his kids. There were mine and my sisters closest cousin. I'm Georgie.

Hi, Georgie I hope you see this message I just did a search on this forum for Smilden and just found your post. Did you see this post I made here: http://www.norwayheritage.com/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1610&SearchTerms=,smilden

That talks about most of the research I did. Also I would like to know if you have any photos of your grandfather his brothers and sisters or of your great grandpa Hans and Maren. I would love to see what they looked like. You can email me from this forum Thanks!

P.s. I would love for you to email me those stories as well! and any other information and little tidbits you have about the family.
